Your Opportunity at SECURE:Torch labourers are responsible for day-to-day duties on site needed to complete work in a safe and timely fashion and maintain a clean work site.
This position must also adhere to our safety program and work as a contributing member of the site team. The Team:The SECURE Metals & Mining team is a group of experienced professionals dedicated to providing innovative and reliable scrap metal recycling services. With a strong focus on safety and customer satisfaction, our team operates across strategically located facilities in Western Canada, offering a full range of services from recycling and clean-up to demolition and surplus scrap metal marketing. Work Environment:This position is located in Fort McMurray, Alberta. Applicants must be willing and able to work on a rotational work schedule, which includes fly-in & fly-out to site from Calgary or Edmonton. A Day in The Life:

  • Ensure all SECURE safety policies and procedures are followed
  • Be cognizant of and adhere to any site specific safety requirements
  • Partake in all safety related meetings including: daily tail gates, last minute risk assessment, etc.
  • Metals experience
  • Welding experience would be an asset
  • Experience with liquid oxygen, propane and metallurgy would be considered an asset
  • Aptitude for running small equipment including but not limited to skid steers and water filtration pumps
  • Must have an understanding of all power and small tools
  • Conduct pre-operational checks on equipment
  • Clean, lubricate and fuel all equipment and general site housekeeping
  • Ensure safety fences / markings are all in place
  • Notify supervisor and or repair shop of any required work to be done
Skills, Experience & Qualifications:
  • 3-5 years' experience working with a torch, preferred
  • Experience work in on demolitions preferred
  • Oil and gas industry experience would be an asset
  • Basic comprehension and ability to follow SECURExe2x80x99s Workplace Health and Safety requirements relevant to the assigned work site, including but not limited to SECURExe2x80x99s xe2x80x9cStop & Think Processxe2x80x9d and SECURExe2x80x99s xe2x80x9cHazard Assessment Processxe2x80x9d
  • Ability to complete safety documentation in an accurate and timely manner
  • Ability to perform physical tasks, including lifting, shoveling, moving containers and other heavy materials
  • Strong work ethic and willingness to persevere through difficult weather conditions, challenging work site environments, and long demanding work days
  • Willingness to work away from home for significant blocks of time, moving from project to project as required
  • Ability to manage weather and/or seasonal interruptions in work schedule
  • Certification in WHIMS, H2S, CSTS, First Aid would be considered an asset
  • Fit-for-Work each day
