Today ODI serves industries around the globe, with facilities in Canada, the United States, Mexico and the Czech Republic. Our Kitchener Corporate Headquarters and R&D Centre oversees global administrative functions, and houses an Engineering team that develops advanced software, automation, and vision systems to serve both our manufacturing facilities and our customers worldwide.
We have an opening in our Kitchener production group for a General Labourer. This person will report to the local Production Supervisor. The group produces cutting dies for customers across Canada and the U.S while also supporting engineers and other office staff in Kitchener.
Responsibilities:
MIG welding, using an oxy acetylene torch & filing
Operating grinder (pedestal & cylindrical)
Operating band saw, table saw & compound mitre saw
Operating drill press & belt sander
Operating the steel bridging machine
Steel cutting with shears (hydraulic, pneumatic & manual)
Bending steel with auto bending machine & hydraulic bender
Cleaning & painting dies
Cutting & gluing rubber to die boards
Packaging dies to prepare them for shipping
Building pallets for shipments
Material handling & moving materials with a pump truck
Skills Required:
Mechanically inclined and likes to work with their hands
Basic experience with welding
Interested to learn new skills such as bending, drilling & filing
Ability to operate automated equipment
Comfortable working with power tools, band saw, sander & grinder
Heavy lifting required
Ability to stand on feet for long periods of time
General computer knowledge
Ability to follow written and oral instructions
Works well in a group
Responsible, punctual & overall positive attitude
Experience:
Shop floor experience is an asset
Knowledge of machine shop safety protocols is an asset
