Working under the direction of the Regional Manager, Tobacco Enforcement. The position manages a specific program area by functioning as a Tobacco Enforcement Officer by carrying out a diverse program of enforcement, education and promotion to reduce the incidence of disease attributable to tobacco use and exposure by increasing the public\xe2\x80\x99s awareness of public health legislation and science, and through the direction, management and review of the tobacco enforcement activities of other Health Protection staff so as to ensure compliance with the Tobacco Sales and Regulations, policies and standards. Assists in the delivery of comprehensive educational programs within the Northern Interior Regional Health Board region by providing consultative and educational services to health unit staff, community groups and assisting the Tobacco Reduction Coordinator.

Shift Rotation/Hours of work: 4 Days per Week, Days - 08:30 to 16:30

Qualifications



Degree in a Health-related discipline plus one (1) year recent, related health promotion and regulatory enforcement experience,
Knowledge of applicable tobacco related legislation, statues and regulations such as the Provincial Tobacco Sales Act (TSA), the Federal Tobacco Act (TA);
Or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience
Valid British Columbia Driver\xe2\x80\x99s License as travel is required.

Demonstrated ability in the use of e-mail and word processing. Ability to operate other related equipment as required in the specific practice area.
Demonstrated ability to complete initial and ongoing assessments through appropriate knowledge application of local bylaws, the Tobacco and Vapour Sales Act and Regulations, Provincial and Federal acts and Regulations related to Public Health and standards, procedures and policies of the local Health Board related to Public Health.
Physical ability to perform the duties of the position.
