The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewAs a member of the recovery team and under the supervision of the Team Leader and/or preceptor Recovery Technician II, the incumbent is responsible for the successful completion of on-the-job training and for demonstrating competency in aseptic tissue recovery including but not limited to: surgical dissection, back table procedures, circulator functions, physical assessment, blood recovery, pre and post tissue recovery procedures in the OR and at the tissue bank, instrument cleaning and preparing for sterilization, packing of recovery kits and preparing tissue for shipment to processors. The incumbent may also at times work independently to perform the aforementioned tasks.Experience

  • A minimum of 2 years\' experience or training in surgical technology/operating room procedures, allied health, medical, technical or mortuary field, preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Completion of a post-secondary education diploma or degree or currently enrolled in a healthcare related diploma or degree program required. Preference will be given to licensed healthcare professionals.
  • Must commit to a comprehensive on-the-job training program (approximately 6 months) in tissue recovery and related procedures and pass the competency requirements as a condition of employment.
Certification/Licensure/Registration
  • Licensed in a healthcare profession preferred.
Qualifications and Skills
  • Demonstrated knowledge of gross anatomy and sterile technique preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently and collaboratively as part of a team as required.
  • Must have good communication and interpersonal skills.
Physical Requirements
  • Position involves considerable walking, lifting, bending, stooping, carrying and standing for long periods.
  • Manual dexterity is required.
  • Must be able to lift a minimum of 25 kg at least 50 cm from the floor to waist high.
  • Frequent exposure to human tissue and bodily fluids.
  • Must be available on a regular basis and be able to arrive at the tissue bank within 1 hour or less for cases.
  • May be required to be on call including evenings, nights, weekends and holidays and to work extended periods of overtime.
  • May involve occasional overnight or long-distance travel.
  • Willingness to travel by automobile, commercial or charter aircraft required.
  • Valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and able to drive company vans required.
