Capilano University Library is seeking a library technician to join our team at our North Vancouver Campus. Working with students, staff, faculty, community borrowers, and supporting library services, you will be part of an integrated team that works in alignment with the library\'s vision in providing services, resources, and spaces to spark the imagination and creativity of our community, and to support our students to engage as global citizens.

What you\'ll do

At CapU Library, your work will encompass a combination of duties that support the ongoing needs of library services. The position will support teaching and learning work by booking classrooms, entering and exporting relevant statistics, monitoring the teaching log, and working with the Teaching and Learning librarian. Other work will involve providing backup support for library communications and outreach.

You will also collaborate with your colleagues and interact with students, faculty, and members of the community and provide referral and information services such as locating print and digital resources, circulating materials, creating user accounts, providing printing technical support, handling payments, maintaining patron and item records, and performing closing duties.

You will report to the University Librarian and receive direction from the Library Services Supervisor.

The applicant should have experience with:
  • Information organization and retrieval in a library environment
  • Integrated Library Systems (ILS) - (Capilano University Library uses Sierra)
  • Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook & PowerPoint)
  • Graphical design platforms such as Adobe Photoshop, Adobe Acrobat, Adobe Illustrator and Microsoft Publisher
Qualifications
  • Library Technician Diploma from a recognized post-secondary institution.
  • One year of relevant library experience.

Days and Hours of Work

Our standard work week is 35 hours per week.
Work is conducted primarily on campus, However, CapU offers some flexibility in working conditions and there is an opportunity to request compressed work schedules for modified work weeks.

Hours of work from Sept - April are as follows:
  • Monday - Thursday, 2:30 p.m. - 10 p.m.
  • Friday, 10:30 a.m. - 6:00 p.m.
Hours of work from May - August are as follows:
  • Monday -Friday, 9:30 a.m. - 5:00 p.m.

Pay Group 14
Salary

$49,000 annually based on 35 hours per week (with increments up
to $55,000).
