The Thrift Store Sales and Marketing Associate will provide front-line customer service and help maintain a positive shopping experience. The position will assist with product selection, pricing, and merchandising decisions with attention to seasonal trends, retail best practices, and product availability. Reporting to the Team Lead, the Thrift Store Sales and Marketing Associate will also support the execution of the marketing strategy for The Mustard Seed\xe2\x80\x99s Thrift Store and Online Store.

DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Exemplify strong customer service and sales skills; manage customer complaints and concerns
• Care for staff, donors, volunteers, community participants, and other customers
• Assist with merchandising, pricing, and store layout decisions according to trends, best practices, and sales history
• Develop a marketing strategy to increase brand awareness and in-store & online traffic
• Create and distribute online/social media marketing content
• Engage in loss prevention procedures
• Collaborate with Warehouse and assist as requested
• Participate in all staff training (e.g. First Aid, Safe TALK, NCIV) and attend regular meetings with Manager
• Other duties as assigned.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND SKILLS

• Post-secondary education or professional experience in a communications, advertising, or marketing-related field is preferred
• Strong interpersonal, communication, and customer service skills
• Experience in a retail environment is an asset
• Strong computer skills (MS Office Suite)
• Team player, who works collaboratively and has a \xe2\x80\x98teachable spirit\xe2\x80\x99
• Empathetic towards, and ability to communicate with, individuals facing mental health,
• addictions, chronic illness, homelessness, poverty and related challenges
• Experience working within the culture of the inner city and/or with people experiencing poverty or homelessness is an asset
• Access to a reliable vehicle, valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and proof of 2 million liability insurance.

WORKING CONDITIONS

• Physical effort: moderate, periods of cleaning, sitting, standing, walking, indoors and outdoors (predominantly work indoors)
• Lift up to 50 pounds to sort, pack and move items
• This position is often fast paced and requires moderate amount of mental effort to analyze
• information and problem solve
• Must be able to respond appropriately to intense situations, provide conflict resolution, work directly with clients at risk

This position requires the use of a company vehicle. Candidate must have and maintain valid driver\xe2\x80\x99s license and will need to consent to a driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract request.
