Job Description

We are seeking a full-time permanent

Air Cooler Thermal Design & Estimator (Entry Level).

The ideal candidate will be responsible for performing the thermal design and estimation of air-cooled heat exchangers. Candidates with an EIT or P. Eng or CET or TT are strongly preferred. He/she will review customer supplied datasheets, drawings, and specifications; submit detailed proposals, work through clarifications, and process/hand-over new awards to Operations teams. Some of the other responsibilities include:

Responsibilities:

Perform thermal and mechanical design.

Generate estimates, source material quotes, and submit proposals.

Assist Management in targeting & securing orders to meet Altex Corporate and Comm Ops dept goals.

Communicate clearly with all stakeholders - customers, suppliers, and Altex employees.

Communicate with customers and other stakeholders to ensure the scope of work is clear and understood.

Perform thermal sizing, rating, and simulations of air-cooled heat exchangers based on customer supplied heat exchanger process data. Optimize for cost, schedule, and fabrication.

Perform preliminary mechanical heat exchanger design to ensure the thermal design is feasible, and to generate details for material quotes and estimation.

Perform other related duties as assigned.

Requirements

:

BSc. Engineering degree or Engineering Technology Diploma or equivalent of a recognized an accredited institution.

Work towards becoming a registered P.Eng., starting with becoming a registered EIT.

As a P.Eng/EIT or CET/TT, maintain the ability to assume responsibility and exercise independent judgment to perform assigned technical tasks with appropriate limited direct supervision Experience with heat exchanger recommended practices such as API 661 is considered an asset.

Experience using ASME Boiler and Pressure Vessel Codes, and CSA B51 is considered an asset.

Experience with mechanical design software such as Compress, PV Elite, and HTRI Optimizer, is considered an asset.

Experience with thermal rating software such as HTRI is considered an asset.

Experience reading process simulation reports such as HYSYS, PROMAX, VMG Sim, etc. is considered an asset.

A general working knowledge of process facility design and operation is considered an asset.
