The organization also delivers some province-wide health services and supports centralized administrative and business functions for Manitoba health organizations.Position OverviewReporting to the Manager the Therapeutic Gaming & Technology Support Specialist is responsible for enhancing and improving the use of technology within the Child Life team.The primary role of the Therapeutic Gaming and Technology Support Specialist is to use video gaming systems, technology, and innovation to enhance the pediatric patient experience. This role will also act as a resource regarding new technologies.Working as a team with the Child Life Specialists and Music Therapists, Children\'s Hospital TV and the Library program the incumbent will promote and integrate best evidence-based and clinical practices related to the use of technology with children and youth within our healthcare setting and develop an evaluation plan to assess the outcomes of various initiatives over time.Experience

  • Minimum 2 years relevant experience required.
  • Knowledge of gaming systems and new technologies suitable for use in a pediatric healthcare setting required.
  • Experience in healthcare and/or working with children and youth preferred.
Education (Degree/Diploma/Certificate)
  • Bachelor\'s degree in Child Development, Education, IT, or related field.
  • A combination of education and experience may be considered.
Certification/Licensure/RegistrationNot ApplicableQualifications and Skills
  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office required.
  • Knowledge of Apple products preferred.
  • Excellent communication/interpersonal skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with technology and gaming.
  • Proficient with all aspects of Video Game play, device maintenance, and general technological prowess.
  • Able to deal courteously and sensitively with patients and families.
  • Basic understanding of child and adolescent development.
  • Must be self-motivated and able to problem-solve both independently and in a team setting.
