We are seeking enthusiastic and dedicated Theatre Instructors to join our team for our Audio Drama & Voice Acting class. As an Instructor, you will play a vital role in creating a safe, fun, and engaging environment for children. You will be responsible for leading activities and teaching/guiding participants to rehearse short scripts/skits or write their own. Each class session runs 4 classes: 3 rehearsal/practice classes and 1 performance class where we will broadcast live on Radio Waterloo. The class runs weekly on Monday evenings. This position is ideal for individuals who enjoy working with children and have a background in education, theatre, or other creative arts.
Duties
Attend all scheduled rehearsals, performances, and other hours as negotiated.
Ensure health and safety of all participants and volunteers.
Work directly with the General Manager and the other Instructor(s) to create a positive learning environment while maintaining control of actors.
Rehearsals: Work with the Board/General Manager and other Instructors on planning educational classes, selecting short scripts and guiding the participants to learn them for the air date. This includes, but is not limited to: Leading group discussion, Drama Games, Script reading, and casting (with input from group), Directing vocal performances and guiding any script writing, Opening and closing the rehearsal space, ensuring cleanliness of space and security of building in consultation with the other Instructor(s), General Manager, and venue manager(s).
Be on site during the live radio performance to provide guidance and support, assisting the technical staff/volunteer If needed.
Communicate with parents/guardians as needed regarding absences, behaviour issues, etc.
Skills
Experience working with children (ages 10-17) in educational or recreational settings.
Experience with drama, theatre, and/or other creative arts.
Excellent communication skills to effectively interact with children, parents, and team members.
Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team while also demonstrating leadership qualities when required.
A positive attitude, patience, and enthusiasm for working with diverse groups of children.
Must be able to provide a clean Vulnerable Sector Check before the job start date.

Pay: $17.20-$18.50 per hour
