THE ROLE

At the North Vancouver School District, we offer a variety of options for our Secondary School Teachers. Sutherland Secondary is situated on the unceded and traditional territory of the Coast Salish people, specifically the Skwxw\xc3\xba7mesh Nation and s?lilw?ta? Nations. At Sutherland we strive to develop students\xe2\x80\x99 skills, intellect and personal growth in a supportive, respectful learning environment, and to prepare students to become responsible citizens. The successful applicant for this position will work as part of a collaborative team within our Modern Languages and Careers Departments. This is an AM only (period 1 and 3), semester 2 assignment consisting of a block each of French 8 and CLE 10 (Career Life Education).

NECESSARY QUALIFICATIONS

A Bachelor of Education Degree(Secondary), specializing in Core French adn Careers.

Successful experience teaching Core French and Careers Secondary level.

A valid BC Teaching certificate or eligibility for certification through the BC?Teacher Regulation Branch (TRB)

Within a collaborative environment, develop a comprehensive understanding of curriculum with the ability to influence instruction, assessment, indigenous education and social-emotional learning practices.

Ability to implement effective strategies to engage and support academic success for all learners in an inclusive environment

Experience in designing and applying various assessment techniques to measure and monitor student progress.

Committed to professional development with a desire to learn and implement new methodologies and strategies to provide a creative, engaged, and inclusive classroom experience.

Demonstrated ability to apply relevant computer technologies to teaching and learning.

Collaborates with students, parents and staff to enhance the school as a learning community.
