We are looking for an experienced Rubber Coating Technician with industrial rubber lining installation and repair experience responsible for executing maintenance activities in a diamond processing plant. You will have the opportunity to utilize your rubber lining and installation experience to keep plant equipment in top operating condition and ensure that any breakdown repairs are completed in a timely, safe, cost-effective manner to meet or exceed plant availability targets.

Reporting to the Mechanical Maintenance Supervisor and you will be working 12 hours per day shifts on a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotational schedule (alternating night shift and day shift). Main responsibilities will be (but are not limited to):
  • Conduct visual inspections of existing rubber lined equipment and report findings to the supervisor.
  • Prepare parts and equipment by sandblasting
  • Cut, prep and install rubber lining (Linatex) products on vibrating screens, conveyor chutes, valves, pipes, conveyor pulleys (lagging), etc
  • Mix and apply compounds used as adhesives as per manufacture guidelines
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to Diavik\'s safety procedures and protocols.
  • Work and Promote Safety within the processing plant.
  • Immediately reporting all incidents and accidents to your immediate supervisor.
  • Working to achieve or exceed the site and departmental safety goals.
  • Foster and develop a safety culture within the processing plant.
  • Use a safe working attitude before and during assigned tasks
  • Actively participate in the morning pre-start meeting
  • Complete other related work as assigned by the Fixed Plant Maintenance Mechanical Supervisor, Lead Hand, or Senior Managers
  • Operate overhead cranes and use rigging equipment
What you\'ll bring
  • A commitment to the safety of yourself and your team.
  • The ability to setup, prepare, and apply rubber linings on various equipment.
  • At least four years experience installing rubber lining products in an industrial environment - five or more years of related experience is preferred.
  • Certification in one of the industrial trades and or lubrication/belting experience would be considered an asset.
  • Wear fall arrest equipment and be able to work in an confined space environment.
  • The ability to work in high stress situations, work to a high standard of work quality and strive to make equipment improvements in order to maximize plant availability.
  • Strong interpersonal skills and excellent oral, written and active-listening skills
  • Proficiency with computer programs such as MS Word, Excel, Project and PowerPoint and SAP.
Northern residency and experience working in a cross-cultural environment, coupled with knowledge of the unique challenges and opportunities presented to those living in the North, are assets.
