As a Technical Writer/Illustrator you will be part of our global Technical Publication team and perform all work related to creation, update, publishing, and delivery of technical publications. In addition, you will be involved in planning, data harvesting, and structuring of technical information. The goal is to describe complex technical systems in a clear, efficient, and simple way.

Job Title: Technical Writer/Illustrator
Job Type: Full-time and permanent position
Location: On-site position (with the future option of hybrid working) in our downtown old Montr\xc3\xa9al office (next to Square Victoria-OACI metro station)

FUNCTIONS AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Technical authoring with a mix of technical illustration tasks

  • Analyze technical documents for conversion to technical publications, regarding re-use and single-sourcing of data
  • Create and manage engineering data (technical data, material data, and 2D/3D illustrations)
  • Work on the preparation and publication of various technical publication types and formats
  • Contribute to the improvement of our software products and develop new innovative ideas for technical publications
  • (Potential) Support our external customers with the development of innovative approaches for the improvement of their technical publications
  • (Potential) Develop and optimize processes in the area of 2D/3D visualization as well as create customer-specific graphic style guides, benchmarks, and marketing presentations
REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS
  • Knowledge of XML editor software (e.g. PTC\xc2\xae Arbortext\xc2\xae Editor\xe2\x84\xa2, Oxygen\xc2\xae XML Editor), and/or
  • Knowledge of common graphic editor/CAD software (e.g. Cortona3D and 2D illustrator tools)
  • Good technical understanding paired with a high willingness to learn
  • Technical training, preferably in mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, or aeronautical engineering
  • Good knowledge of English, both written and spoken (Bilingualism English/French or German an asset)
  • College (DEC) diploma or equivalent Bachelor\'s degree in a technical, graphic, or linguistic field of study
  • Canadian citizenship or permanent residency
  • Willingness to travel for business in Canada and the United States but also worldwide if required (asset)
  • Understanding of IPS and/or Technical Publications processes and technologies including, but not limited to ASD S-series of IPS-Specifications (e.g. S1000D, S2000M, S3000L); ATA e-Business program (e.g. ATA iSpec2200; former ATA 100) (asset)
  • Knowledge of (component) content management systems and CSDB (e.g. HICO iPS.Suite\xc2\xae)
