We are a quickly growing company that designs and manufactures underwater acoustic transducers and sonar systems for a variety of applications including defence and homeland security, ocean science, and oil and gas. We currently have an opportunity for a Technical Writer who enjoys collaborating in a fast-paced technical environment and adopting the latest tools for teaching our customers about our products. The ideal candidate will have strong practical experience in creating content for a diverse audience which was gained through writing in a technical field. *
RESPONSIBILITIES*

  • Produce quality content tailored to the needs of the audience (primarily customers, operators, and maintainers of the underwater systems we deliver)
  • Contribute to the writing of technical publications such as operations and maintenance manuals, proposals, and assembly procedures
  • Create content for Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals (IETM)
  • Harvest information from subject matter experts, operators, and maintainers and turn it into easy to understand content
  • Support our trainers by writing material for their lessons
  • Participate in program activities such as meetings and reviews
  • Incorporate graphics to increase readers understanding
  • Assist with editing and publishing of the final product
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Experience creating technical content
  • Exceptional writing skills, including being clear and to the point
  • The ability to determine and understand the needs of the end user
  • Organized
  • Strong communicator
  • The ability to manage tasks on time
  • Proficient in the use of the Microsoft Office Suite, especially Word
  • A curious mind; interested in learning more about GTI and its products
  • A openness to explore and adopt new tools
The following skills are desirable, but not mandatory:
  • Familiar with the S1000D international specification
  • Experience in creating Interactive Electronic Technical Manuals
  • Experience with XML based authoring and publishing tools
  • A basic awareness of simplified technical English
  • A technical background
