General Summary: Supports the School\xe2\x80\x99s mission through providing technical support to the School\xe2\x80\x99s Theatre Program and performances in the theatre. Performs complex professional work, while motivating students to develop skills in the area of Technical Theatre. Essential Duties and Responsibilities: \xe2\x80\xa2 Teaches technical theatre class in a supportive learning environment for students that encourages social interaction, active engagement in learning, and self-motivation. \xe2\x80\xa2 Supervises and coordinates the technical demands of all theatre events including rehearsals, music concerts, and theatre productions. \xe2\x80\xa2 Works collaboratively with faculty and staff to plan theatre events. \xe2\x80\xa2 Works collaboratively with theatre and music teams. \xe2\x80\xa2 Maintains a live and accurate master calendar for all events in the theatre, and serves as the contact person for all events planned in the theatre space. \xe2\x80\xa2 Establishes and maintains standards of student behavior needed to achieve an optimal learning atmosphere. \xe2\x80\xa2 Attends and participates in professional meetings, including collaborative teams, division meetings, and professional development. \xe2\x80\xa2 Completes other tasks and duties as deemed appropriate by the Upper School Administration. Knowledge and Abilities: \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong content knowledge in theatre and the workings of technical theatre \xe2\x80\xa2 Secure knowledge of best practices in theatre \xe2\x80\xa2 Working knowledge of the following areas: audio and sound reinforcement, construction and set design, lighting design, stage rigging, stage management and/or production management, and clear understanding of professional standards of stage safety \xe2\x80\xa2 Strong classroom management and safety skills with the ability and the desire to work with a diverse student body \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to teach and manage students as they design, use power tools, build, paint, and run technical theater equipment \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to work nights and evenings as needed \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to design and build sets and props for productions \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to design and run lights and sound for staged productions, concerts, and events \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to work collaboratively with others and maintain positive professional relationships \xe2\x80\xa2 Ability to read, comprehend, follow and give oral and written instructions \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent writing and communicating skills \xe2\x80\xa2 Excellent organizational skills with a strong degree of self-direction and motivation \xe2\x80\xa2 High level of maturity, confidentiality, and assertiveness \xe2\x80\xa2 Capable of using tact and diplomacy in dealing with others \xe2\x80\xa2 Capable of competently operating technology Technical Skills: Proficient: \xe2\x80\xa2 Carpentry and Wood Shop Safety \xe2\x80\xa2 Digital Sound Board Operation (Yamaha QL Series) \xe2\x80\xa2 ETC EOS Lighting Systems \xe2\x80\xa2 Moving Light Operation on ETC Ion \xe2\x80\xa2 Program Lighting and Sound through Crestron bypass Preferred Skills: \xe2\x80\xa2 Scenic Design and Construction \xe2\x80\xa2 Lighting Design (Hang and Focus, Basic Maintenance) \xe2\x80\xa2 Dante Network Patch for Remote Pit Mix and Balance \xe2\x80\xa2 Rigging and Fly Rail Operation Education and Experience: \xe2\x80\xa2 Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s or Master\xe2\x80\x99s Degree in Technical Theatre, Theatre, Dramatic Arts, or Education preferred \xe2\x80\xa2 3-5 years teaching experience \xe2\x80\xa2 Experience in educational and theatre technology
