Job Description

We are currently looking for Technical Services Representative to join our WBI Home Warranty team in our Surrey office. This is a hybrid role (Report Writing and Team Collaboration in office in Surrey, BC and Technical Assessments completed throughout the Vancouver, Lower Mainland and Fraser Valley Areas, as well as some travel throughout BC and Alberta as required) This role reviews new homes registered in the warranty program to assess workmanship, materials, and compliance with warranty, industry, and company standards. The position serves as a liaison between account managers, underwriters, and builders or developers, ensuring homes are managed in accordance with applicable legislation, policy provisions, and company guidelines. The role also supports the timely and effective resolution of construction-related issues.

Duties & Responsibilities




Duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

Perform on site, course of construction reviews on new homes to assess workmanship, materials and compliance with warranty, industry, and company standards. Perform technical assessments on new homes to determine if defects are warrantable under the new home warranty acts and regulations as required. Prepare and complete professional reports on items viewed during reviews to ensure compliance with industry and company standards of construction. Prepare and complete professional reports on items viewed during technical assessments to assist with bringing closure to disputed and/or claimed items. Provide technical opinions with claims handlers, account managers, and underwriters as required. Engage external professionals, as needed, to support resolution of construction issues or coverage determinations Review of engineering reports relevant to new homes registered Proactively manage and maintain organized, timely, and accurate records Maintain open communication with other Departments to support strong risk management practices. Build and maintain relationships with Builder members. Attend various industry functions to stay current with industry developments and strengthen relationships with Builder members.

Qualifications



Education, Knowledge & Experience



Core knowledge of the stages and components of single-family and multifamily home construction. Core knowledge of regulatory and/or legislative requirements relating to the construction industry, such as BC Building Code, Residential Construction Performance Guide, etc. Core knowledge of the methods, materials, tools, and equipment used in commercial, industrial, and residential building construction, alteration, or repair. Minimum of 2-5 years' construction industry experience is required. Valid class 5 driver's license and a reliable vehicle are required. Construction related certificates/tickets are an asset but are not required. Knowledge of a second language such as Punjabi, Hindi, Mandarin, or Cantonese is an asset.

Compensation



The expected salary range for this position is $65,000 to $80,000 and will be impacted by factors such as the successful candidate's skills, technical experience, and location, as well as the specific position's business line, scope, and level.
