The Opportunity: The Technical Service Representative is responsible for driving MLF-Poultry with respect to broiler management best practices and technology transfer of our broiler specialty programs to both our customers and the sales and procurement team. This position is also accountable for being a point person to the sales and procurement representatives for maximizing RWA/Organic performance and management of technical issue along with the overall RWA on farm program management, protocols, controls, and education of all further differentiation initiatives derived through live operations are requirements of this role. This role will work closely with a combination of key internal and external stakeholders on technical RWA/Organic related initiatives.

Snapshot of a Day-in-the-Life:

  • Key on farm contact for the Raised Without Antibiotics and Organic Programs focused management best practices and technology transfer to both our customers and the sales and procurement team.
  • Key point person for the sales and procurement representatives for maximizing RWA/Organic broiler performance and management of technical issues.
  • Overall responsibility for on farm management of the RWA/Organic Program and Protocols, and all other potential further live differentiation initiatives.
  • Responsible for evaluation and implementation of management techniques and emerging technologies that improve field performance.
  • Support Sr. Technical Leader with feed companies on nutritional or protocol aspects as it relates to our RWA program.
  • Strong working internal relationships with the sales & procurement representative team, quality team and the live operations analyst.
  • Responsible for developing the placement and shipping schedule working closely with the sales team to meet our retail commitments.
  • When required, coordination of on farm RWA supplies and equipment.
  • Strong working external relationships with producers, feed representatives, third party suppliers, and other industry stakeholders.
  • Provides technical support to team members when required.
  • Accountable for continuous improvement of the RWA Program, focus on taking cost out while improving field performance.

  • Using a Six Sigma approach to drive forward continuous improvement opportunities.
What You'll Bring:
  • Post-secondary education or University Degree preferably in Agriculture, Animal Science, Business or related field (or equivalent work experience) preferred.
  • Minimum 1-2 years experience in a poultry sales or technical role.
  • Strong working knowledge of animal science, nutrition, and broiler management best practices including experience managing the on-farm core concepts of raising broiler chickens without antibiotics.
  • Strong desire to educate and drive forward continuous improvement initiatives through the adoption of best practices.
  • An ability to work independently; be self-motivated and enthusiastic.
  • Strong analytical, time management and organizational skills.
  • Proven ability to drive sales initiatives and multi-task in a fast pace environment.
  • Demonstrated strong commitment to the Maple Leaf's Leadership Edge Values.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
  • Good presentation skills with an ability to influence others
  • Excellent verbal and written communications skills.
  • High level of computer competency including knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
