Job Description


Under the responsibility of the R&D hardware engineering group manager, the technical leader is central in the development of our hardware technical solutions. Thus, together with the architects, he proposes solutions, to then ensure the technical coordination of the design teams during the development of the products. These teams, made up of specialists, designers and technicians, develop future EXFO products that are considered the most efficient in the world in the field of optical instrumentation and protocol analysis. The Technical Leader has a wealth of knowledge and experience allowing him to act as a technical advisor and coach within the group and also to set up and promote good working methods and processes.

The challenges and mandates that await you:

  • In collaboration with the members of your teams, elaborate detailed implementation plans for the projects assigned to you;
  • Be the representative of the R&D technical team within the project team;
  • Ensure technical decision-making;
  • Ensure interdisciplinary communication;
  • Support technical design work and provide required technical assistance to team members;
  • Assign tasks and coordinate activities associated with the deliverables of the R&D technical team;
  • Actively participate in the development of his team\'s schedule in collaboration with the project manager;
  • Give the progress status of projects;
  • Actively lead the resolution of technical issues;
  • Establish and promote good working methods and processes.
Required profile
  • Solid experience in complex electronic design (signal integrity
10Gbps, use of complex integrated circuits such as FPGA, CPU, DDR4 among others) * Mastery of PCB design issues for high-speed applications
  • Experience and leadership as an electronic designer in a context of multidisciplinary projects (mechanical, low-level software, certification, manufacturing issues)
  • Solid experience in carrying out the hardware developpment (mechanical, electronic, signal integrity, signal processing (FPGA)) of complex and multidisciplinary technical development projects
  • Good command of the hardware product development sequence and the interdependencies involved
  • Open-mindedness and Leadership

  • Very good ability to converge a technical team towards the best solutions
  • Very good sense of priority management, great autonomy
  • Excellent planning and project monitoring skills.
Required skills
  • Bachelor\'s degree in electrical engineering (related degree and relevant equivalent experience may be considered)
  • Minimum of 15 years of relevant experience (within multidisciplinary project teams with a high degree of technical complexity) as an electronic PCB designer, including 5 years demonstrating strong leadership
  • Additional training and experience in team management, an asset
  • French and English (spoken and written)
