In your role, you will:

Technical Leadership

  • Define an Engine Performance Knowledge Domain vision and development plan
  • Plan, update and expand the Bombardier Engineering System for Engine Performance
  • Be the voice of Bombardier/guide other team members at international committees on topics related to Engine Performance
  • (e.g. FTHWGs, SAE Standards in areas of thrust, fuel flow and other engine performance areas)
  • Identify and support development of engineering professionals and DADs in the field of Engine Performance
  • Provide management with recommendations and guidance for promotions from Professional, Senior to Technical Expert
  • Support management with the hiring process by reviewing candidates and participating in selection interviews.
  • Propose the implementation of technical innovations based on knowledge of industry trends through Advanced Design and Strategic Technology (e.g. BWB, alternate propulsion systems, etc.)
  • Recommend new cost-effective engineering solutions through Knowledge Domains and Program execution
  • Influence industry standards on topics related to Engine Performance (e.g. new rule making, Emissions, etc)
  • Develop network of contacts throughout the industry
  • Support requirements development and flow down, (e.g. MR&O, DR&O development)
  • Lead aircraft level requirements development, validation & verification efforts in the field of Engine Performance
  • Lead and coordinate PR investigation and resolution process for A/C level issues
  • Provide technical approval of design
  • Witness selected testing as part of oversight on behalf of the applicant
  • Collect Lessons Learned and ensure best practice/common approach across aircraft development programs
  • Lead and coordinate the A/C level requirements and design solution development for complex problems leveraging transformation and BES
  • Participate in Supplier selection having significant impact on overall aircraft level performance affected by the propulsion system (e.g. Engine, nacelle, customer bleed system, etc)
Technical Competency
  • Ensure adherence to TRL, maturity & exit gate criteria
  • Validate technical processes to ensure standards and best practices are adhered to
  • Recommend development actions for Technical Experts as part of PDP
  • Mentor potential successors
  • Research, and stay abreast of, new technologies to produce thrust more efficiently (fuel burn and size of powerplant)
  • Maintain competitive landscape for Engine Performance
  • Share industry and regulatory development within the Knowledge Domain
  • Perform/support A/C level trade studies
  • Review/prepare responses and review program specific IP, CM, CRI, CAI as Applicant
  • Review/prepare Certification Plan as Applicant in support to the DADs
  • Review/prepare MoC from internal and external benchmarking (e.g. new or novel regulatory interpretations originating from Applicant design team or regulatory authority specialist interactions, new or novel design features for regulatory interpretive guidance for MoC determination)
  • Review/prepare company inputs to NPRMs and NPA\xe2\x80\x99s
  • Provide technical guidance to Programs and CARB
  • Work with the Safety team to execute A/C Level Safety, Reliability and Security processes
  • Support multi-disciplinary alignment for Triage, CARB and AOG issues, when necessary
Qualifications

As our ideal candidate,
  • You have more than 20 years of relevant experience in the field of Engine Performance
  • You have experience conducting Engine Performance ground and flight tests for aircraft certification and supplier compliance
  • You have a working relationship with at least one of the certification authorities (Canada, Europe and USA)
  • You are recognized, internationally, as an expert in the field of Engine Performance
  • You possess strong communication skills, both verbal and written
  • You hold a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in engineering, Master\xe2\x80\x99s degree would be an asset
  • You have good knowledge of various programming languages used by the industry (FORTRAN, Python, Matlab) and various Microsoft Office Suite packages
  • You are eligible to obtain Controlled Goods Clearance to be able to work on Missionized Aircraft Programs in support of Bombardier Defense
