Technical Development & Regulatory Specialist

Job Description

We are seeking a detail-oriented and process-driven Technical Development & Regulatory Specialist to support our production and quality teams by leading product and recipe development, producing CFIA and USDA compliant labels, and providing technical guidance. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in quality, and/or label development within a regulated industry, preferably food or pharmaceuticals, and experience in a CPG manufacturing setting.

KEY ACCOUNTABILITIES:

1. Assist in the development and improvement of QCF products across production lines.

2. Develop, update, and maintain Nutrition Fact Panels and labels ensuring accuracy and regulatory compliance.

3. Participate in trials and scale-up processes, working cross-functionally with production, QA, and operations teams.

4. Conduct ingredients, recipe, and production audits.

5. Participate in audits and inspections by providing documentation and ensuring traceability of changes.

6. Complete documentation for new products including batch sheets and Bills of Materials

7. Ensure compliance to Quality and Food Safety requirements within the scope of the position

8. Ensure all documentation complies with internal standards and external regulations (e.g., FDA, SQF, HACCP).

9. Investigate, report and make recommendations on technical issues.

10. Support initiatives for product optimization and cost reduction without compromising quality.

11. Prepare and package customer samples for product demonstrations and feedback.

12. Occasionally participate in customer meetings, either on-site or virtually, as needed.

13. Assist with other duties as assigned.

POSITION REQUIREMENTS:

Post-secondary degree or diploma in Food Science, Food Technology, or equivalent experience preferred 1-3 years' experience in a food manufacturing, Quality Assurance, or Product Development role Experience with nutritional analysis tools and label development (Genesis, Nutrium, etc) is an asset Knowledge of HACCP, GMP, and food safety regulations Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Project, etc.) Experience with ERP systems (SAP, Aptean, etc) is an asset Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to ensure compliance with relevant Quality and Food Safety standards. Strong organizational and mathematical skills
NATURE AND SCOPE:

Interpersonal Skills: Work effectively as a Technical Development & Regulatory Specialist with product development team. Must communicate effectively with production and management personnel. Level of Responsibility: Responsible for ensuring Labels, BOMs, Batch Sheets, and related documentation are accurate, clear, and compliant with company and regulatory standards. Decision-Making Authority: Medium - Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out detailed but uninvolved written or oral instructions. Ability to deal with problems involving a few concrete variables in standardized situations. Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Physical and Sensory Demands: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle, or feel; reach with hands and arms; climb or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl; and talk or hear. The employee is occasionally required to sit. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds, frequently lift and/or move up to 25 pounds, and occasionally lift and/or move up to 60 pounds. Working Environment: While performing the duties of this job, Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required. PPE includes but is not limited to Safety shoes, hearing protection, freezer suit, safety glasses, gloves. Incumbent may also be required to wear hair and beard nets.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: $58,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
