The Team:

We are part of the Global Derivatives and Structured Products technology team, responsible for designing, developing and maintaining the bank's in-house built Over-The-Counter derivatives trading application.

The Role:

The Technical Business Analyst will be responsible for the effective analysis, design, development, implementation of reporting for Scotiabank's compliance with OTC Derivatives Reforms such as Dodd Frank, EMIR and similar rules in Canada, and Asia.

The candidate will need to interact with various stakeholders including Business Analysts from other systems, business stakeholders, developers, vendors, infrastructure and Compliance. The incumbent will influence the technological solution in relationship to architecture, design and development and leverage common components and enterprise technologies as part of delivering the solution.

Responsibilities

  • Strong technical knowledge on systems and infrastructure in order to lead the design of reporting initiatives.
  • Contribute to projects being on schedule and meeting regulatory reporting requirements.
  • Identify user requirements by working with a number of key individuals from the business and IT, producing high-level business requirements and liaising with development to take these through to a detailed functional specification.
  • Follow the Software Development Life Cycle methodology and prepare test plan and test cases for IST testing
  • Manage business testing through the quality assurance team for key projects.
  • Build relationships and communicate effectively with colleagues in all regions.
Qualification:
  • Have knowledge of OTC derivatives products and related regulations
  • Experience of managing projects that span change in multiple front-office systems and teams
  • Familiar with databases like SQL, Oracle PL-SQL
  • Proven ability to translate business requirements into technical specifications and deliver working results.
  • Understanding of regulations and implementation of regulations
  • A recognized under-graduate degree in business, mathematics, computer science or a related discipline.
  • An understanding of the Bank's application system and software from a business/technical viewpoint is required to assess the impact of development and/or changes to the overall data processing environment.
  • Working knowledge of Agile Project Management, Risk Management and Change Management skills
