Overview


Reporting directly to the Transportation Manager at the Bill Sobey Retail Support Centre (RSC), the Team Lead Transportation Planning is responsible for aspects of the trucking operations; trailers and loads, maintaining oversight of routing, scheduling and dispatch to customers. Adherence to applicable provincial and federal regulatory standards is strictly enforced. Actively contributes to a positive and productive working environment.


Efficient scheduling of load router/planner staff.
Delegate and assign duties/responsibilities/functions and measure load planners performance on a daily basis.
Assign special projects and tasks as needed.
Review all load plans to ensure accuracy and identify load improvements for cost savings.
Investigate/correct any store complaints.
Follow up to ensure all special requests are done daily/weekly.
Define and direct department processes and with a view to continuous improvement.
Train and manage staff to perform their jobs in the most efficient/effective manner while reducing errors and controlling costs.
Work with other departments to ensure proper communication/processes/timing to improve service while maintaining costs.
Perform load planning for peak days, vacation, emergencies, etc. (as required).
Develop/prepare and circulate KPI reports for transportation.
Maintain a clean and safe work environment as per company requirements

Job Requirements


2 \xe2\x80\x93 5 years working knowledge of warehouse/RSC environment and transportation systems Experience with TMS preferred Invoicing for third parties and our owner operators Manage and maintain 3rd party carrier base Full engagement with dispatchers and router/planners Well rounded individual detail oriented with strong organizational, time management, analytical, and problem solving capabilities Ability to meet tight deadlines while ensuring accuracy Working knowledge of Microsoft Office including Excel and Access Strong customer service skills Ability to work effectively in a team environment Familiarity with the Western and Prairie road network 3-5 years experience in logistics/transportation and Planning Supervise and performance manage a team May be required to lift up to 22 lbs Sitting for long periods of time; may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time Flexible in their schedule working days, evening or nights as all other duties are required We offer teammates competitive total compensation packages that will vary by role and location.
