Reporting to the Warehouse & Retail Infrastructure Platform Services Manager, you will assist in the planning and management of numerous, large scale, multi-phase infrastructure development and maintenance projects for the warehouses and retail stores. About the Role
Provide day to day supervision, direction and guidance, training and development and motivation to a team of direct reports
Oversee the quality and quantity of each team member\xe2\x80\x99s work, assist in training new members and monitor the overall effectiveness of the team against department objectives / SLAs
Provide leadership to the project team by meeting regularly to review progress, problems, corrective actions and alternatives; convey management and user view of projects; report on relevant decisions and any provide design requirements or changes
Provide technical guidance and hands-on analysis/programming, where necessary, to ensure smooth system implementation and maintenance of Warehouse & Logistics Systems
Consult with various groups within the IT department, as well as with external vendors, to ensure that systems can be easily implemented, maintained and changed as necessary
Liaise with users to ensure effective planning for changes to user environments and user participation in all phases of projects
Present strategies and recommendations for infrastructure improvements
Monitor progress against detailed plans and schedules to identify potential problems, re-negotiate development schedules or recommend utilization of outside resources and/or modification of project scope
Analyze and evaluate projects completed by external resources for compliance with contractual requirements and LCBO standards
Supervises the lifecycle of activities for infrastructure environments (compute and storage) by:
Analyzing existing operations and providing recommendations to management for the improvement, growth, utilization, capacity and provisioning of the operating environment;
Performing analysis of infrastructure needs and contributes to architecture design, integration and installation;
Supports 700+ stores and 4 warehouses. Travel will be required to some of these sites.
About You
University degree or college diploma in Computer Science or equivalent business experience
Minimum 10 years of Warehouse and/ or Retail IT experience, with the ability to supervise a team and lead them through tight deadlines in a high stress environment.
Proficiency in the following technologies is required:
Operational Systems: OpenVMS, Windows Server, Linux.
Programming Languages: C, Java, C#, COBOL, Python
Cisco and Cisco Meraki SDWAN technologies
Cloud computing: AWS, GCP, Azure
Strong scripting and automation skills (e.g., Python, Bash, PowerShell).
Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
Experience with collaborating with Vendor Managed Services, warehouse and retail staff
Deep knowledge and experience in project management methodologies and practices, including techniques for budgeting, project estimation, planning, and control
Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and written, with demonstrated customer service skills
Preferred Skills
Experience writing and maintaining documentation; ability to document and convert business needs into understandable and actionable technical requirements
Experience in the following technologies
Toshiba SurePOS 700 series
IBM-xseries servers
Retail systems (GK)
Infrastructure experience in launching new store sites.
ITIL v3 or v4 Foundations and/or other similar industry best practices (COBIT, Lean, etc).
Experience on using an IT Service Management tool (ServiceNow).
Experience in an Unionised environment is an asset
