Overview:
The Team Lead role is responsible for overseeing direct care employees, ensuring the delivery of high-quality personalized support services for Individuals with disabilities. This role primarily centers on program supports and intervention management, coaching, mentoring, and compliance with regulatory standards and policies. The Team Lead ensures the Individual Support Plans are understood and delivered. The Team Lead collaborates with their team to create a work environment that empowers Individuals with developmental disabilities to succeed.
Responsibilities:
Proactively identify and resolve issues, handle con?ict, and address challenges as they arise. Ensuring the team receives necessary training, resources, and guidance for success.
Facilitating seamless coordination of care by communicating information from healthcare professionals to direct care employees. Sharing relevant details with Individuals, team members, families, and additional support members.
O?ering constructive feedback and coaching to direct care employees to enhance their skills and achieve professional goals. This involves acknowledging achievements, pinpointing areas for improvement, and providing necessary training.
Ensuring compliance with all relevant regulations, policies, and procedures with a primary focus on Individual safety and well-being.
Guiding direct care employees in maintaining proper mobility practices and addressing challenges. This includes comprehensive training on safe lifting, transfer techniques, Assisted Technology and Environmental Interventions (ATEI), and maintaining professional boundaries.
Supervising the proper administration, storage, and documentation of medications. Overseeing that medication delivery policies and practices are followed.
Managing and de-escalating crisis situations to ensure the safety and well-being of all Individuals and employees. Providing guidance to direct care employees to ensure they are familiarized with programs and procedures.
Consistently adhering to Occupational Health and Safety regulations while maintaining appropriate documentation. This includes proactively identifying potential hazards, promptly addressing safety concerns, and recommending safety protocols.
Establishing clear guidelines and protocols for systematic and organized record-keeping. Ensuring consistency and accuracy in recording essential data and updates. Reviewing and verifying reports for completeness and compliance with relevant regulations and standards.
Ensuring Individual budgets are developed and followed, maintaining ledgers for accounting.
Conducting orientation and training for new and current personnel, including volunteers, practicum students, work placements, and new employees.
Preparing relief sta? schedules for covering shifts in the absence of regular scheduled employees.
Promoting inclusivity and cultural sensitivity within the team by adapting care practices that respect and embrace diverse beliefs and cultural backgrounds.
Providing transportation support to Individuals as specified in Individual Service Plans, such as medical appointments and community activities.
Assisting in the maintenance, upkeep, and quality standards for designated properties.

Ability to fulfill the physical demands of the role, including driving, climbing stairs, lifting/transferring, personal care, and participating in community activities.
Familiarity with Bea Fisher's range of support as well as community opportunities.
Proficiency in professional practices, planning, evaluation, and organization.
Qualifications:
Post secondary school education (Grade 12) and/or experience in the Human Services field. Rehabilitation Diploma considered an asset.
Minimum of three years experience working with Individuals with disabilities, human development and behaviour is preferred.
Previous experience in supervisory role preferred.
Experience with complex behavioural programs and medication administration is an asset.
Basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word, Excel, Teams).
Valid Class 5 Drivers License and reliable vehicle is required.
Valid Standard / Intermediate First Aid & CPR Certificate is required.
Satisfactory Criminal Record Check with Vulnerable Sector Check is required.
Proficiency in spoken and written English.
Availability for shift work.
