The Company

B2Gold is a responsible international senior gold producer headquartered in Vancouver, Canada. Founded in 2007, today, B2Gold has operating gold mines in Mali, Namibia and the Philippines, the Goose Project under construction in northern Canada, and numerous development and exploration projects in various countries including Mali, Colombia and Finland.

Position

Team Lead, Laboratory, Nunavut

Location and Reporting Structure

Reporting to the Manager, Laboratory, this position will be a fly in- fly out 3x3 rotation based in Nunavut, Canada.

Responsibilities

Oversee the receipt and verification of incoming geological and mineral samples, ensuring compliance with established procedures and documentation standards; Supervise the labeling of samples, ensuring all labels are printed and applied in accordance with strict laboratory protocols; Prepare and review job worksheets and sample lists using laboratory information management systems (LIMS) and spreadsheet software (e.g., Microsoft Excel); Monitor and document the progress of samples through the laboratory workflow, maintaining complete traceability and adherence to chain-of-custody requirements; Coordinate the packing and secure shipment of completed samples to external laboratories or clients, ensuring proper documentation and adherence to handling protocols; Liaise with laboratory technicians, supervisors, and external couriers to facilitate efficient sample handling and logistics; Facilitate cleanliness, organization, and safety compliance in the front-end laboratory area, ensuring alignment with internal SOPs and safety regulations; Identify and report equipment malfunctions, procedural deviations, or safety concerns, supporting continuous improvement initiatives within the lab; and Provide hands-on support to the team during periods of high workload, equipment downtime, or staff shortages.

Desired Competencies and Requirements

Five (5) years' experience in an assay laboratory, with at least 1 year as a Lead Hand in the mining industry; Degree or Diploma in Chemistry, Laboratory Technology, or a related field; Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications, particularly Excel; prior experience with Laboratory Information Management Systems (LIMS) is considered an asset; and Physically capable of performing manual tasks, including lifting and handling sample bags or boxes weighing up to approximately 25kg.

Compensation and Benefits

For informational purposes, the estimated annual earnings are $100,594.00 for 2184 scheduled hours (combined regular hourly rate of $36.50 and overtime rate of $54.75 in a work year.
