Quality Control Team Lead.

This is a permanent, full-time position located in

Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island

.

The candidate will be responsible for:

Providing guidance and oversight to a team of employees. Responsible for basic Human Resources services for the team including payroll, review, and approval of vacation requests, providing employee feedback and evaluation where needed, and ensuring employees are in compliance with workplace rules. Delegating work to a QC Team to efficiently accomplish priorities. Communicating with Analytical Services management, QA, and Manufacturing with regard to QC activities. Reviewing QC records and data for completeness, correctness, and compliance with GMP. Performing analyses using instrumental techniques such as HPLC, GC, UV-VIS, and NMR. Handling of hazardous materials, including: acids, bases, solvents, potent compounds, and APIs safely and properly. Performing analyses using bench chemical techniques such as TLC, titrimetry and gravimetry. Maintaining accurate, real-time records of all laboratory activities. Performing required calculations, by hand or with use of spreadsheets or validated computer systems. Completing paperwork for the release of materials, including status labels and certificates of analysis. Ensuring appropriate tracking and logging of samples. Identifying test results which are out of specification and opening formal failure investigations when this occurs.

The successful candidate for this position should have:

Bachelor of Science degree, emphasis on Chemistry preferred. At least two years of relevant laboratory experience. Technical proficiency with laboratory instrumentation such as GC, HPLC, UV-VIS. Knowledge of cGMP guidelines an asset. Good oral and written communication skills, strong technical writing an asset. Team oriented leadership qualities.
