Down East Hospitality Inc. is a multi-unit restaurant franchise that owns and operates 9 Tim Hortons Restaurants across HRM. The main responsibility of this role is Human Resources, with some support with the day-to-day operations of our fast-paced business. You will report to the General Manager and Owner.
Job Duties, include but not limited to:
Work closely with Restaurant Managers in assessing current, near and long-term staffing requirements
Seek out and utilize the most effective method of recruiting new team members. Posting job ads, social media, etc.
Interview and hire new team members
Orientate and onboard new hires
Coordinate on the floor training with Restaurant Managers
Conduct exit-interviews/follow ups, when necessary
Assist Restaurant Managers with employee reviews. Ensuring they are completed accurately and on time. Enter and record all completed reviews and compensation adjustments
Assist Managers & Supervisors in covering 'call-in' shifts and scheduling conflicts
Assist Managers with coaching & employee conflict resolution
Oversee the company's team member incentive programs currently in place and promote future programs that will strengthen the relationship between the company and our team members
Assist the General Manager with Foreign Workers recruitment and immigration processes
Complete letters of employment and reference letters for employees
Plan and organize all company events
Assign and coordinate First Aid and Food Safety training
Enter and Manage all WCB & incident reports, work to work programs, etc.
Lead the Joint Health & Safety Committee (JHSC)
Support with any operational activities as needed

Have strong knowledge of NS/Canada immigration programs

Ability to communicate effectively to multiple people, in varying age groups and ability levels, both in verbal and written communication methods
A post-secondary education in Business or Human Resources
Comfortable working with MS Office (Word, Excel, etc.)
Have experience working at Tim Hortons or in the customer service/quick service industry is an asset

Schedule:
Monday-Friday 7am-4pm, you are expected to work 5 days a week, 9 hours a day. You will be expected to take after hour call/texts. It is acknowledged that we operate a 24 hour business and that it may be required of you to work non-conventional hours occasionally.
This position is covering for a maternity leave, but there are opportunities for permanent employment.

Contract length: 14 months
Pay: $55,000.00-$65,000.00 per year
