Position:
Tax Analyst Primary Location: Toronto, ON Schedule: 6 month Contract, full-time, hybrid Reports To: Senior Manager, Tax Compensation: $60,000 to $70,000 annually Salary ranges are determined by role, level, and location. The range reflects the minimum and maximum target for new hire salaries for the position. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job related skills, experience, and relevant education or training. More specific salary range for your preferred location can be discussed during the hiring process. Please note that the compensation details listed reflect the base salary only.

About This Role and About You

The Tax Financial Analyst will support the Global Tax team, with primary focus on Canadian tax matters.


The Tax Financial Analyst will report to the Senior Manager, Tax and will assist with sales, property, income tax compliance activities and related support activities including processing and filing tax returns, record certain tax related monthly cash entries, and carryout out process improvement initiatives. The Tax Financial Analyst will also be responsible for preparing some of the quarterly tax provisions for Canadian entities, supporting the completion of required transfer pricing files, as well as periodically assisting in the audit defense process with the Canadian federal and provincial tax authorities.


Qualifications

  • University Degree in mathematics, commerce, business, or accounting.
  • 2+ years\xe2\x80\x99 tax or finance experience desirable.
  • Exceptional Microsoft Office Suite knowledge.
  • Experience with SAP, Longview, Taxprep, Taxform, Tax Partner/Taxnetpro is an asset.
  • Strong analytical skills, initiative and attention to detail.
  • Ability to evaluate, analyze, prioritize work under tight timelines, and problem solve a variety of tasks to ensure timely and accurate completion of responsibilities.
  • Team player with good communication, negotiation and presentation skills to interface with cross-functional team members and build strong working relationships with the global tax team



Responsibilities
  • 60% Tax Compliance:
    • Be responsible for sales and property tax filings;
    • Gather and analyze the financial information for tax return purposes;
    • Assist with maintenance of the certain tax models, including preparing tax related journal entries;
    • Assist with quarterly transfer pricing adjustments calculation;
    • Assist with quarterly withholding tax calculation and filings;
    • Maintain accurate records of intercompany transactions and balances and provide necessary analysis and reconciliation;


  • 15% Tax Provisions:
    • Prepare tax provision workbooks on quarterly basis.
    • Gather and analyze financial information for provision and external reporting purposes;
    • Support process improvement and automation initiatives.


  • 15% Tax Team Support:
    • Update tax jurisdiction codes in SAP once requested;
    • Prepare income tax instalments, property payments and reconciliation.


  • 10% Special Projects/Adhoc Reporting:
    • Assist in audit processes with the Canadian federal and provincial tax authorities;
    • Contribute to process improvement and automation efforts;
    • Support other adhoc requests from cross functional teams or the Global Tax team.
