We are currently seeking a System Administrator in the Calgary office.

Midwest Surveys is a professional land surveying firm providing Geomatics services to the oil and gas industry and municipalities through our ten offices in Saskatchewan, Alberta, and BC. We support local communities and are committed to providing an outstanding work environment.

Position Details:

Reporting to the IT Infrastructure Team Lead, the System Administrator\'s role is to manage user accounts, tune in-house computer software/hardware systems and network connections to ensure high levels of availability and security of the supported business applications. This individual is committed to following and enforcing the company\'s policies and procedures, as well as IT fiscal and regulatory requirements.
Your duties will include but are not limited to:

  • Administer network and systems security (Cisco, PAM, IDR/EDR)
  • Install and configure physical and virtual infrastructure systems
  • Strong knowledge of Microsoft Cloud products - Azure and Microsoft 365
  • Install and configure desktops, laptops, printers, and others
  • Provide user support (user account, desktop, peripherals, etc.)
  • Log and escalate IT requests/issues within our support ticket system
  • Perform system/data backups and recovery using Veeam Backup & Recovery
  • Maintain accurate and up to date documentation for policies, procedures, and technical documentation
  • Practice ITIL methodology and IT Project Management guidelines
  • Collaborate and support IT team members on provision of IT solutions
  • Follow Midwest Surveys\' health and safety protocols
Qualifications and Experience:
  • Post-secondary degree or diploma in information technology or an IT related discipline
  • 5+ years of experience managing Windows environments (2012 R2 and above)
  • Industry relevant certifications - MCSE, MCSA, CCNA etc. (would be an asset)
  • Combination of education, training, and experience will be considered

  • Proven knowledge of network, PC, and Windows Operating Systems
  • Proven analytical and problem-solving abilities
  • Strong interpersonal and oral communication skills

  • Knowledge of applicable data privacy/confidentiality practices and laws
Work Conditions
  • On-call availability
  • Able to lift at least 50 lbs
  • Survey/GIS knowledge would be considered an asset
