We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our dynamic culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food safety, with a particular focus on sushi and Japanese cuisine. Candidates should have previous restaurant experience, kitchen experience, and a deep understanding of the food industry standards for cleanliness and safety. The Sushi Chef will be responsible for preparing, presenting, and serving sushi with precision and artistry, ensuring an exceptional dining experience for our guests.
Duties
Prepare and assemble sushi dishes according to established recipes and presentation standards
Handle food with care to maintain freshness and quality during meal preparation
Cook various Japanese dishes as needed, including tempura, sashimi, and other related items
Serve customers efficiently while maintaining excellent customer service and communication skills
Maintain cleanliness and organization of the sushi bar and kitchen area in compliance with food safety regulations
Monitor inventory levels of ingredients and supplies, restocking as necessary
Ensure all food handling procedures adhere to health department guidelines
Collaborate with team members to ensure timely service during busy hours
Uphold high standards of food presentation, taste, and quality at all times
Experience
Previous restaurant experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar culinary role is highly preferred
Proven skills in food preparation, cooking, and meal presentation within the food industry
Knowledge of food safety practices and proper handling of raw fish and seafood products
Experience in serving customers directly in a fast-paced restaurant setting is advantageous
Familiarity with kitchen equipment used for sushi preparation such as knives, rice cookers, and refrigeration units
Strong understanding of Japanese cuisine and traditional sushi techniques is desirable
