We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in food preparation, cooking, and food handling, with experience in serving and presenting sushi dishes that meet high standards of quality and safety. Duties
Estimate amount and costs of supplies and food items
Maintain records of food costs, consumption, sales and inventory
Demonstrate new cooking techniques and new equipment to cooking staff
Supervise activities of specialist chefs, chefs, cooks and other kitchen workers
Create new recipes
Instruct cooks in preparation, cooking, garnishing and presentation of food
Prepare and cook complete meals and specialty foods for events such as banquets
Prepare and cook food on a regular basis, or for special guests or functions
Prepare and cook meals or specialty foods
Requisition food and kitchen supplies
Arrange for equipment purchases and repairs
Plan menus and ensure food meets quality standards
Prepare dishes for customers with food allergies or intolerances
Train staff in preparation, cooking and handling of food
Leading/instructing individuals
Provide staff training
Requirements
Proven 5 years experience in food preparation, cooking as a Sushi Chef within a restaurant or food industry setting
Strong knowledge of food handling, safety procedures, and sanitation standards
Excellent serving skills with a focus on presentation and customer satisfaction
Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment while maintaining attention to detail
Experience with meal preparation, kitchen operations, and food industry best practices
Knowledge of Japanese cuisine, particularly sushi techniques, is highly desirable
Prior restaurant experience demonstrating proficiency in food service and kitchen responsibilities
Commitment to maintaining high standards of food safety and quality control
