We are seeking a skilled and passionate Sushi Chef to join our culinary team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Japanese cuisine, particularly in sushi preparation, and will be responsible for creating high-quality sushi dishes that meet our restaurant's standards. This position requires a keen eye for detail, creativity in menu planning, and a commitment to food safety and hygiene.
Responsibilities
Prepare and present a variety of sushi dishes, including nigiri, sashimi, and rolls, with precision and artistry.
Ensure all ingredients are fresh and of the highest quality by sourcing from reputable suppliers.
Maintain cleanliness and organization in the kitchen, adhering to food safety regulations at all times.
Collaborate with kitchen staff to develop new menu items and enhance existing offerings based on seasonal ingredients.
Monitor inventory levels of sushi ingredients and communicate needs to the kitchen manager.
Train and mentor junior kitchen staff on sushi preparation techniques and food handling practices.
Provide exceptional customer service by engaging with guests about menu items and accommodating dietary preferences or restrictions.
Experience
Proven experience as a Sushi Chef or in a similar role within the food industry is essential.
Fine dining experience is highly preferred, along with a strong understanding of culinary techniques related to Japanese cuisine.
Demonstrated expertise in knife skills, food preparation, cooking methods, and meal preparation is required.
Previous experience in dietary departments or as a dietary aide is a plus, particularly for those familiar with menu planning for specific dietary needs.
A background in catering or food service will be beneficial to enhance our offerings during special events or large gatherings.
