Our mission is to provide support to people to ensure their quality of life in the community is meaningfully improved, promoting inclusion and independence.For more information about Community Living Mississauga, we invite you to visit our website at www.clmiss.ca.Job SummaryWorking under the guidance of a Manager/Supervisor, this position is responsible for the individualized support of people who have an intellectual disability as directed in their personal support plan. Support may include personal care as required. This position is for awake overnight shifts during the week and on weekends.Key Responsibilities

• Provide support to people who have an intellectual disability, to promote independence.
• Provide assistance with personal care as required.
• Monitor & support health issues for each person supported as required.
• Assist people supported to ensure their home is well maintained and image enhancing.
• Encourage self-expression of people supported, and utilize knowledge of verbal and nonverbal communications, including alternative communication systems and techniques.
• Promote community inclusion, independence and self-determination for people supported.
• Stay informed about and utilize community resources.
• Work collaboratively with co-workers, the people supported and their families to solve problems and resolve conflicts.
• Apply techniques and understand concepts related to non-violent crisis intervention (CPI).

Qualifications

• Developmental Services Worker Diploma (preferred), or Social Services Worker Diploma, Child and Youth Worker Diploma with some experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability.
• Will consider a University Degree with a minimum of 6 months of experience working or volunteering with people who have an intellectual disability.
• Valid Ontario Driver's Licence (Class G or G2); access to a reliable vehicle with insurance.
• Proficient in PC computer environment, MS Office (Word, Excel, Outlook, etc.) and other software.
• Current Standard First Aid / Level A CPR Certificate.
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team and with families as necessary.
• Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal, non-verbal, written).
• Good problem solving and conflict resolution skills.
• Bilingualism in English/French or other language would be considered an asset.
