We are seeking someone who is energetic, passionate, driven, and to effectively collaborate and communicate with other employees, families and outside agencies in an effort to properly support the needs of individual children and nurture their curiosity. Stepping Stones emphasizes the benefits of outdoor, play-based learning environments for all ages that enhance children's exploration and experiences.
Qualifications:
High School Diploma
A recent Vulnerable Sector Check (within 6 months)
Up-to-date record of immunization as outlined by legislation
Current Standard first aid and CPR
Food Handler's Certificate
Ability to communicate effectively and establish appropriate relationships with families, caregivers and other professionals
Ability to remain calm under pressure and maintain professional disposition
Have the physical and emotional stamina to supervise children in a variety of settings including outdoor public spaces
Ability to work independently and as part of a team
Comfortable interacting with and supporting families and community members
Ability to actively participate in the outdoor program in inclement weather
Physically able to lift and/or assist with the moving of a child and/or moving of supplies or equipment
Responsibilities:
Implement planned activities for children 0 to 12 years of age to meet the developmental needs of children.
Create warm, welcoming environments and ensure the safety of children enrolled in the program through direct supervision, attendance protocols, and age-appropriate programming
Plan and implement our curriculum to meet the needs, interests, and talents of all children
Working professionally with families, community partners, and other staff members
Proactively developing relationships with children, peers, volunteers, and parents
Assist with children's meals and snacks including set up and clean up
Adhering to all Stepping Stones Policies and Practices, Child Care & Early Years Policies
Attend required staff meetings and continuous professional learning sessions
Maintain records (daily log, check lists, Lillio reports, etc.)
Manage and maintain an orderly classroom - follow cleaning schedules and room routines (includes sweeping, moping and overall cleaning of the centre)
