Summary of Position:
Our Supply Chain Manager is critical to the success of our operations and play a key role in ensuring we deliver our homes on time, every time. You will be responsible for procurement activities supporting our Delivery and Installation Teams, Customer Care, and, as required, manufacturing procurement operations.
As IGV Housing grows and our role as Principal Contractor expands, this position will also support construction site activities by producing accurate material take-offs, budgets, and schedules.
Success in this role requires excellent communication skills--both face to face and by phone--combined with a persuasive, tenacious, and thorough approach. You'll have an eye for detail and the curiosity to build an in-depth knowledge of our homes and everything it takes to manufacture and deliver them.
You'll also be involved in managing and maintaining fleet operations, plant and equipment records, site Bills of Materials, and operational cards (JES / OPS). Engaging and enthusiastic, you'll be keen to add value across the business and be part of shaping our future.
Main Duties / Accountability:
Procure materials and place orders to ensure delivery in line with:
- Standard company operating procedures
- Standard conditions of purchase
- Cost and profit improvement targets
- Required quality, quantity, and delivery timelines
Develop scheme-specific material budgets for project start-up
Track material cost fluctuations and highlight changes to the commercial team
Maintain detailed procurement records and organized schedules
Prepare and contribute to cost reports to improve business efficiency
Support Accounts with prompt resolution of invoice queries
Contribute to developing improved purchasing processes and procedures
Participate in Supply Chain meetings and forums to share updates and build capability
Build and maintain strong supplier relationships, including local and Indigenous suppliers where possible
Actively contribute to enhancing regional profitability
Help establish IGV Housing as an industry leader in supply chain management
Primary Responsibilities:
Provide a professional, efficient, and effective material scheduling and purchasing function
Place bulk call-off orders and ad hoc purchase orders to meet project requirements
Resolve supplier issues to ensure timely delivery of materials
Support implementation of strategic framework agreements
Engage with customer-facing teams to verify sales order information
Order and track materials to achieve just-in-time delivery aligned with production plans
Collaborate with the production team to ensure materials and information are in place to meet build schedules
Work with the wider supply chain team to identify and correct deviations so that homes are produced on time and to specification every time
Build and maintain a Preferred Supplier List across tiers 1, 2, and 3, securing competitive pricing
Maintain accurate records of fleet, operational cards, plant, and equipment
Qualifications & Training:
No formal education required for the right candidate
Post-secondary education in supply chain, business administration, or a related field an asset
CIPS or SCMP certification (qualified, part-qualified, or willing to pursue) preferred
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, F2f and by phone/video conference
Experience:
Preferred candidate has a strong construction background with solid network of wholesale suppliers in lumber, mechanical, electrical and finishings
Minimum 2 years in a purchasing, procurement, or supply chain management role
Experience working in a production or manufacturing environment is an asset
Experience with ERP systems is essential
Experience working with complex, multi-level Bills of Materials (BOMs), particularly where replenishment quantities vary from BOM, is desirable
Familiarity with WorkSafeBC regulations and site safety requirements is an asset
Promote local sourcing and Indigenous procurement initiatives where possible
Support sustainability objectives through responsible sourcing and waste minimization
