SCOPE



Reporting to the Operation Manager, Facilities Operations SGW, and indirectly to the Loyola Property/Operations Manager, the incumbent supervises the electrical trade personnel in a unionized environment dedicated to operational maintenance, on both campuses. The Electrical Supervisor acts backup to other Supervisors and Managers as needed. The Electrical Supervisor also acts as a resource for the trade workers under his/her supervision, manages budgets and performs HR duties.



PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES



Supervise daytime and evening personnel in a unionized environment to ensure continuity of electrical services across both campuses with a focus on customer satisfaction and resource optimization. Assist in hiring new employees, coordinate training activities, coaching and succession planning. The incumbent prioritizes and assigns work as necessary. The electrical supervisor evaluates work performance of his employees and makes recommendations He/She is responsible for planning, scheduling and organizing system interruptions with efforts made to minimize the impact on building occupants and departmental services. Working in collaboration with the Operations Manager and the Contract Manager, the incumbent provides requirements for service, and supply contracts for the purpose of sustaining base building services. Responsibilities also include the verification, compliance, and coordination of activities related to the national, provincial and municipal codes and regulations as an active C16 license holder. Maintain close collaboration with the Technical, Asset and Commissioning Coordinators and provide project support on new installations as required. Responsible for recommending and implementing changes requested by external agencies such as the Regie du batiments (RBQ), CSST, and municipal fire departments, Hydro-Quebec, Emploi-Quebec or by internal units. Assist in the continuous development and administration of the preventive and corrective maintenance program. He/She prioritizes escalated work orders with group leaders and employees to ensure quality and timely completion. Recommend new technologies and maintenance standards to improve equipment performance. Serve as technical advisor to mechanical / electrical employees as well as a support to Project Managers during the initiating, planning, execution, monitoring/control, and close out phases of a project. Serve as a member of University committees such as the Central Advisory Health & Safety Committee. Represent the Operation Manager, Facilities Operations on committees as required. Work in collaboration with the environmental health and safety department to provide support and training to operational personnel. Coordinate resources to support emergency and contingency plans. Respond to incidences as required. Act as onsite resource and communicate progress and return to service activities. Prepare incident reports with a focus on affected areas, root cause, actions taken and lessons learned. Establish guidelines & best practices for energy conservation initiatives. Act as a liaison with Hydro Quebec for any energy programs and initiatives as well as to coordinate any electrical shutdowns. Maintain and administer budget allocations; cost recovery, salary and non-salary lines as well as preparing budget projections. Initiate capital investment project requests through the deferred maintenance program and oversee critical asset life cycles. Evaluate needs and prepare requisitions for materials and contracted services. Actively participate in the procurement process.

QUALIFICATIONS



Diploma of collegial studies technical programs (3 year DEC) Electro-mechanical engineering technology (or related) and 5 years of related work experience and a (license 16) Constructeur-proprietaire specialise . Or (license 16) Constructeur-proprietaire specialise and 7-10 years experience and a minimum of two (2) RBQ Qualification Professionnelle Des Entrepreneurs de Construction courses. A minimum of two years supervisory experience. Eligible to act as guarantor for a licensed (license 16) Constructeur-proprietaire specialise or be immediately eligible to register to act as guarantor for the licence Constructeur-proprietaire specialise (license 16). Good working knowledge and understanding of computerized lighting and energy management system (i.e.: Apogee from Siemens, OrcaView from Regulvar, Schneider, ECnet from ACCS, Lutron, Kameleon, CMMS Maximo) Good spoken English (level 4) and basic written English (level 3); good spoken French (level 4) and basic written French (level 3) in order to communicate with the University Community. Proven ability to manage and supervise using sound principles and practices in a unionized environment. Demonstrated ability to manage budgets while observing sound administrative principles. Project Management skills. Excellent organization and prioritization skills, with a demonstrated ability to bring tasks to successful completion on budget and within stipulated timelines. Strong knowledge of Energy control systems is required to direct and control the operation and maintenance of Electrical equipment. This includes and is not limited to a variety of Electrical systems including generators, transformers, large and small motors, variable drives, fire protection systems and panels good knowledge in HVAC and plumbing equipment. Good working knowledge of Maximo maintenance software. And working knowledge of Word (able to input text), intermediate skills in Excel (able to format spreadsheets and do simple formulas for budgeting purposes). Superior leadership, interpersonal and communication skills in order to build strong teams. Commitment to excellence in providing quality service to internal and external customers. This position has an extended work week of forty (40) hours. The position also requires the incumbent to be available on weekends and holidays, as necessary, to meet event needs and in case of emergencies.
