Short Summary

The Supervisor, Security assists the Manager and Associate Manager, Security, with responsibility for the general security and safety of the CN Tower, its assets, employees, tenants, contractors and all guests. The role also helps manage the day-to-day operations of the building's Security department and security equipment, and for ensuring that all occupants of the CN Tower are provided with the highest standards of life safety, fire safety, service excellence, attraction quality, location cleanliness, and operational efficiency. The Supervisor, Security provides a memorable guest experience by ensuring building safety is paramount and never compromised.
Supervisors, Security will play a key role in the performance management, training and motivation of all Security Personnel. They will assure that security notebooks are properly filled out and signed off on, on a regular basis.
Supervisors are also required to supervise shifts and to attend departmental management meetings, and to further develop an extensive knowledge of security equipment and systems, standard operating procedures, policies and guidelines used by the department. Supervisors, Security will inform the Manager, Security of any matters - security and non-security related that require immediate attention.


  • Ensures that established security measures are followed to protect the assets of the CN Tower; employees, tenants, and all CN Tower guests.
  • Handle customer complaints tactfully to maintain good public relations image
  • Schedules staff to ensure overall security of the CN Tower, including special events.
  • Implement all department policies and procedures, ensuring that established emergency procedures meet crisis situations when they occur; comprehensive knowledge of maintenance and operating procedures for OTIS elevators.
  • Provides performance feedback to employees where necessary.
  • Performs regular spot checks/testing of security personnel to enhance the effectiveness of their performance.
  • Provide direction, assistance and investigates all first aid incidents which occur on or near CN property; dispenses and administers first aid and CPR when necessary.
  • Performs supervisory inspections on a regular basis of the building
  • Conduct investigations such as lost person, occurrences where loss or damage has taken place, critical/serious injury and first aid.
  • Proficient working knowledge of Close Circuit Television (CCTV) system.
  • Provide analysis and recommendations regarding seasonal staffing needs and staffing levels on an ongoing basis.
Qualifications

A relevant college diploma or university degree in law enforcement, security or equivalent is preferred.
A minimum of three (3) to five (5) years of related experience in the security field.
Working knowledge of Federal, Provincial and Municipal legislation and regulation in the area of security and life safety requirements/guidelines.
A good understanding and familiarity with security plans, procedures, and applications.
First Aid, CPR and Smart Serve certification is required.
Superior organizational skills necessary coordinate multiple projects.
Demonstrated skills in developing, managing and monitoring operational budgets and plans to achieve corporate objectives.
Demonstrated ability to use good judgment and to apply problem-solving skills on a variety of issues.
Bilingualism (English/French) is an asset.

Working Conditions

Ability to stand or walk for long periods of the day.

Ability to work in varying weather conditions (including but not limited to cold and hot weather, rain and windy conditions).

Approved uniforms are to be worn during working hours. Dress codes are in effect as per the standard policy and procedure.

Department uniforms are provided to protect personal clothing from wear and damage.

Flexible to work rotating shifts, which includes but is not limited to evenings, weekends, holidays and overtime as required.

Frequent environmental exposures to cold, heat and water

High stress, fast paced environment

Interacts with employees, management and the public at large.

Light to infrequently moderate physical effort. Requires handling of light and moderate weight objects including CN Tower merchandise/inventory, office equipment and other office supplies.
