About Us



Dearham Wood Daycare (DWDC) is a non-profit, licensed child care centre serving children ages 2.5-12. We are committed to providing high-quality, inclusive, and engaging early learning and child care programs that reflect How Does Learning Happen? (HDLH) and align with the City of Toronto's Assessment for Quality Improvement (AQI) framework.

We are seeking a dedicated, organized, and collaborative

Supervisor

to join our leadership team. The Supervisor will oversee daily operations, licensing compliance, and program quality while maintaining strong relationships with families, children, and staff.

Key Responsibilities:



Licensing & Compliance



Ensure compliance with the Child Care and Early Years Act (CCEYA), Toronto Children's Services AQI, Toronto Public Health, and Fire Code requirements. Prepare for and support Ministry licensing inspections and AQI assessments. Maintain compliance binders, health and safety records, and other regulatory documentation.

Program & Quality Assurance



Review and monitor weekly program plans to ensure alignment with HDLH, ELECT, and the DWDC Program Statement. Conduct regular room visits, observations, and program quality assessments. Support educators to implement inclusive, culturally responsive, and developmentally appropriate practices. Promote continuous improvement in programming and child outcomes.

Family & Community Relations



Serve as the first point of contact for families regarding day-to-day communication, feedback, and concerns. Build and maintain strong relationships with families through meetings, newsletters, and ongoing communication. Manage the waitlist, conduct tours for prospective families, and support full enrolment. Coordinate community outreach and parent engagement initiatives; evaluate and adjust strategies as needed.

Staff Supervision & Development



Support onboarding and orientation of new staff. Provide ongoing coaching, mentoring, and supervision to program staff. Conduct probationary check-ins, annual performance evaluations, and maintain staff development records. Oversee performance management in a unionized setting. Identify and coordinate professional development and training opportunities. Approve staff vacation requests and plan for coverage. Manage staff scheduling, day-to-day staffing coverage, and timesheet approvals to meet payroll deadlines. Support positive labour relations and work with the Director to administer and uphold the CUPE Collective Agreement.

Operations & Administration



Oversee attendance records and procedures, enrollment documentation, enrollment projections Manage member subsidy from Toronto children's services, including inputting monthly attendance records to CSIS. Manage program operations, including tracking and ordering supplies, materials, and equipment. Complete and maintain records of incidents, accidents, and parent communications. Maintain organized administrative systems, including digital filing (SharePoint).

Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI)



Lead DEI initiatives across programming and staff development. Develop and implement a monthly DEI calendar in collaboration with staff and families. Embed diversity, equity and inclusion practices in daily operations and curriculum. Liaise with agencies and professionals to support children with additional needs and coordinate consultations / parent meetings as required.

Organizational Support & Growth



Support the Director with operational and administrative priorities. Contribute to monthly reporting for the DWDC Board of Directors. Lead and participate in centre committees (e.g., JHSC, DEI, Social Events) and leadership projects. Attend and contribute to supervisor network meetings led by Toronto Children's Services. Participate in professional development opportunities annually. Support the growth and expansion of DWDC, including planning for the new build and the addition of Infant and Toddler programs under CWELCC.

Qualifications



Early Childhood Education (ECE) Diploma and registration in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators (RECE). Minimum 5 years of experience in a licensed child care setting, with at least 2 years in a supervisory or leadership role preferred. Strong knowledge of the CCEYA, HDLH, ELECT, AQI, and Toronto Children's Services requirements. Proven leadership skills with experience mentoring and coaching staff. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with children, families, staff, and community partners. Strong organizational skills and ability to manage multiple priorities effectively. Current Standard First Aid and CPR (Level C). Up-to-date Vulnerable Sector Check, immunization record (including TB test), and WHMIS training.

Pay: $65,000.00-$80,000.00 per year
