Join a vibrant and welcoming licensed child care center as a Cleaner with full kitchen responsibilities! In this dynamic role, you'll be the cornerstone of maintaining a safe, hygienic, and inviting environment for children, staff, and visitors alike. Your energy and attention to detail will ensure that the facility remains spotless, sanitized, and well-organized, supporting the center's mission to provide a nurturing space for young learners. With your expertise in cleaning and facilities maintenance, you'll help create a cheerful atmosphere where children can thrive and staff can focus on delivering exceptional care.
Duties include but are not limited to:
Clean and disinfect classrooms, washrooms, staff areas, office.
Clean, sanitize, and organize the kitchen area, including countertops, sinks, floors, appliances, and food preparation surfaces.
Support safe handling and storage of cleaning products and kitchen chemicals in compliance with WHMIS and health regulations.
Collect and dispose of garbage and recycling; maintain waste bins and liners.
Sweep, mop, vacuum, and wash floors daily.
Clean and disinfect high-touch surfaces (doorknobs, tables, light switches, etc.).
Launder towels, bibs, and linens as required.
Report maintenance and safety concerns to the Supervisor.
Follow daily, weekly, and monthly cleaning checklists.
Support overall health and safety practices and infection control procedures.
Qualifications & Requirements:
Previous cleaning experience in a child care, school, health care, or commercial setting preferred.
Knowledge of safe cleaning practices and chemical use (WHMIS training considered an asset).
Physically able to lift, bend, and perform repetitive cleaning tasks.
Ability to lift 40 lbs
Strong attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Ability to be bonded (required).
Clear Vulnerable Sector Check (VSC) required prior to start date.
Food Handler Certificate
Hours & Compensation:
Monday to Friday 4pm-7pm
19.60/hour
