Reporting to the Manager, Engineering & Technical Services; the Supervisor, Environmental is responsible for oversight of all environmental requirements, reporting, and incidents for Redwater site.

They will lead a small team committed to stewardship of site environmental responsibilities, reporting on air, water, waste, and GHG emissions, and relations with neighbours and external regulatory agencies.

They will ensure site personnel are adequately trained on environmental limits and reporting requirements and will ensure appropriate environmental oversight of new projects. Key deliverables include:

• Assuring compliance with Operating Approval requirements. Completion of monthly, quarterly and annual compliance reporting; including reports to the Alberta Environment, Environment and Climate Change Canada, Statistics Canada, NPRI, GHG, and internal sustainability updates.
• Tracking and reporting site performance of emissions, air abatement equipment, deepwell injection system, and site water balance.
• Managing consultant work required to fulfill annual compliance. Includes groundwater monitoring, soil sampling, and air monitoring
• Implementing and improving environmental management systems and leading the site waste management program.
• Update decommissioning and reclamation plans to reflect changes that impact these plans and maintain an updated asset and reclamation obligation commitment.
• Prepare and manage an annual budget to achieve environmental objectives.
• Act as primary contact for Alberta Environment and other environmental regulators for issues, tours, and inspections.

Position Qualifications:

• Post-secondary education in Environmental Sciences and/or Environmental Management, or related field is required ( preference given to Engineering and or Bachelor of Science ).
• Environmental Professional designation or certification
• Minimum 10+ years of work experience in a heavy industrical setting is preferred
• Experience developing and managing systems registered to internationally recognized standards (ISO 14001) considered an asset
• Ability to undertake complex calculations as required to report accurately and to review reports and interpret findings.
• Able to effectively lead and manage a small team
• Computer proficiency in MS Office and SAP experience
