About the role We are looking for a Superintendent, Plant Operations to be responsible to lead the delivery of the processing plant plan in a safe and cost-effective manner to ensure that targeted quantities are delivered on a consistent basis. Reporting to the Manager, Process Operations, this role plays an integral part in achieving results of a moderately complex production operations team using acquired expertise to analyse and solve problems. The Superintendent, Plant Operations is responsible for safely overseeing crews in the day-to-day operation of the Process, Recovery, Backfill and Batch Plants. Building strong relationships with all departments on the mine site is required to ensure the Process Operations Team, and our customers, meet business targets. Leading on the frontline is one of the most important jobs in our business and comes with a large amount of responsibility. We need you to motivate, inspire and keep your people safe and productive. Located at the Lac de Gras mine site, you will be working a 2 weeks on / 2 weeks off rotation. Working collaboratively with all operational and functional departments, you will be responsible for:
  • Implementing core Process Plant activities, practices and procedures and follow-ups to improve on our safety culture;
  • Improving Process Plant production in order to meet the commitments of the annual plan while meeting customer requirements in terms of quantity, quality and timing;
  • Ensuring production rates according to the requirements of site processes and constantly improving processes in terms of volume, efficiency and energy consumption;
  • Optimizing the use of human resources (number, skills, and flexibility) and material resources;
  • Leading Lean and Transformation Management system activities within team or area and performing process improvement projects;
  • Developing and meeting the operational and maintenance budget while ensuring the reliability and availability of equipment; and
  • Leading the team in strategic problem solving that manages risks and supports overall Process Plant productivity and delivering to plan.
About you To be successfully considered for this role, you will have:
  • A strong safety mindset.
  • Preferably a Bachelor\xe2\x80\x99s degree in Metallurgical Enginering, or equivalent, or a good production track record in a supervisory role.
  • Minimum 5 years leadership experience in mineral processing, crushing plant and/or similar industrial workplace.
  • Understanding of the range of technical functions involving process technology, mineralogy, comminution, cemented rockfill or concrete.
  • Valid WSCC Supervisor Level II Certification, or ability to obtain such certificate.
  • Knowledge of instrumentation installations and Process Plant data management systems preferred.
  • Experience and training in Lean or other business improvement methodologies preferred.
  • Ability to maintain standards of conduct and possess cultural awareness and sensitivity.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills, translating technical information for the target audience from senior leaders to operators.
  • Ability to manage a broad range of tasks, priorities and stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to partner and influence in a matrix organization to deliver value.
  • Strong computer skills.
