PCC is looking for a summer student to join our Finance & Accounting Team.
Reporting to the Controller, you will work with the Finance & Accounting team to provide professional, efficient and effective support. You\xe2\x80\x99ll gain knowledge of Finance & Accounting processes and procedures, and have the opportunity to apply academic concepts in the workplace.
This position is based out of our Calgary head office and is a four-month term starting May 2023. Hours of work are a regular 40-hour work week, Monday to Friday.
Accountabilities

In this role you are responsible for:


  • Routine functions and projects
Controller Group (Transaction Accounting and Financial Reporting)
    • Invoice processing / coordinating
    • Routine journal entries (leases, prepaid drawdowns)
    • Prepare and/or validate monthly and adhoc schedules/reports
    • Stats Canada Reports
    • GL account cleanup projects
    • Accounting research
Treasury/Tax
    • Citibank corporate credit card monthly journal entries \xe2\x80\x93 coding and uploading
    • Enter daily FX rates in SAP
    • Monthly GST returns / AB fuel taxes
    • Monitor bank accounts and run daily reports
    • Corporate tax return data entry and / or working paper compilation
    • Bank account reconciliations
FP & A
    • Financial close of old AFEs
    • Reporting template standardization
    • Set up project master data for new business developments
    • Assist in budget consolidation and presentations
  • Update onboarding / training materials and other documentation
    • Asset onboarding
    • Desk procedure updates
    • Process documentation
  • Taking meeting minutes
  • Adhoc Projects


Qualifications

  • Completion of a minimum of 2nd year towards an Undergraduate Business Degree (Bachelor of Management, Finance, Accounting, Tax or Similar)
  • Intermediate level for Excel, PowerPoint, Word knowledge
  • Previous SAP or ERP system experience an asset
  • Previous oil and gas company experience an asset
  • Previous finance experience an asset
  • Strong interpersonal skills, ability to work well with diverse personalities and work force
  • Ability to forge, grow and maintain positive relationships with multiple groups
  • Strong written and oral communication skills
  • Able to manage multiple priorities simultaneously and meet the time demands of unpredictable activities; capable of handling pressure and challenges in a dynamic business environment
  • Ability to work within tight deadlines and prioritization of work to achieve them
  • Strong analytical, critical thinking, problem-solving skills, and a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail
  • Legally able to work in Canada
