Under the direction of the Director, the summer camp assistant director is responsible for all day-to-day camp supervision and spirited traditions at CKT.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Supervise and ensure the safety and overall well-being of the children as well as summer staff at all times, being alert of the needs and/or problems of the individual and as a group.
Set-up of activities for the day, including watching, monitoring and communicating and additional special set-up, cleaning or maintenance needs to camp counsellors.
Supervision of counsellors in their planning and ensuring it includes a variety of recreational activities for the children including, but not limited too: physical activities, games, special events, indoor/outdoor group activities, crafts and sports.
Keep all camp storage space neat and clean.
Assist with the training and activities for all staff the week prior to camp start. Including input and creation of needed materials for training.
Be familiar with and follow all Camp Kidstown policies and procedures.
Ensure a safe counsellor to camper ratio is met, incident reports, attendance.
Keep Supervisor informed in advance of program needs.
Use effective, positive interpersonal communication with fellow co-workers, CHP personnel, participants and parents/guardians of participants.
Oversee counsellors are keeping accurate sign-in/sign-out as well as adhere to other program policies and procedures.
Performs other related duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS
Education:
A bachelor's degree, particularly in areas related to education, recreation, or the camp's focus.
Experience
:
Previous experience working with children or teenagers in a supervisory role is typically required. This can include experience as a camp counsellor, teacher, coach, or in other youth programs.
Experience in planning, organizing, and leading activities or educational programs for children.
Leadership experience, especially in a camp setting, is highly valued.
Skills and Personal Qualities

Strong leadership and organizational skills to manage camp staff and programs.
Excellent communication skills for interacting with campers, staff, and parents.
Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
Problem-solving skills and the ability to handle emergencies or unexpected situations.
Patience, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in working with children.
Creativity in developing engaging activities and programs.
Physical stamina and the ability to participate in outdoor activities.
Specialized Knowledge or Skills
:
Understanding of child development and behaviour management techniques can be beneficial.
Flexibility and Availability
:
The ability to work the full duration of the summer camp.
