Job Overview


We are seeking a dedicated and adaptable Substitute Early Childhood Education Assistant (ECEA) to join our educational team. This role involves providing high-quality support in early childhood classrooms, ensuring a nurturing and engaging learning environment for young children. The Substitute ECEA will be responsible for maintaining classroom routines, supporting teachers, and fostering positive behavior among students. Ideal candidates will have a passion for early childhood education and experience working with children in various settings, including preschool, childcare, or special education environments.

Duties



Implement lesson plans and activities provided by the lead teacher, including curriculum development and lesson planning tailored to early childhood education standards. Support classroom management and behavior management strategies to promote a positive learning atmosphere. Assist with classroom routines such as snack time, circle time, and outdoor play. Engage children in educational activities that promote literacy, math skills, and social-emotional development. Supervise children during indoor and outdoor activities, ensuring safety at all times. Communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents to support student progress and well-being. Adapt instructional approaches to meet the needs of children with diverse backgrounds or special needs, including those with autism or in special education programs. Maintain a clean and organized classroom environment conducive to learning and development. Support individualized education plans (IEPs) and behavior plans as needed.

Experience



Prior experience with classroom management, lesson planning, or curriculum development in early childhood settings is preferred. Experience working directly with children in preschool, childcare, or special education environments is highly desirable. Knowledge of childhood development principles and best practices in early childhood education is essential. Familiarity with teaching methods such as Montessori or literacy and math instruction is a plus. Experience working with children with autism or other special needs will be considered an asset. Strong communication skills and the ability to work collaboratively with educators, parents, and specialists are required. Previous classroom experience demonstrating effective behavior management strategies is preferred.
