Maple Seed Collective is a community-based art space located at the gateway to Wells Gray Provincial Park in Clearwater, BC. We offer accessible, hands-on creative experiences including ceramic painting, pottery wheel use, hand-building, and classes led by local and visiting artists. Position Overview
The Studio Technician is a hands-on, customer-facing role that supports the daily operation of the pottery studio. This position is ideal for someone with a strong interest in pottery who is eager to learn. On-the-job training is provided, making this a great opportunity for someone looking to build technical studio skills in a supportive, creative environment.
Key Responsibilities
Daily Studio Tasks
Set up, clean and maintain studio spaces for daily drop-in sessions and classes
Assist with clay, glaze, and material preparation
Support kiln loading, unloading, and basic firing processes (training provided)
Support pottery wheel use and ceramic studio activities
Follow daily task direction from the Studio Operations Lead
Instruction & Guest Support
Welcome guests and assist with ceramic and pottery-based activities
Support and lead pottery wheel and hand-building classes as trained
Provide clear guidance on proper tool use, materials, and studio procedures
Maintenance & Safety
Maintain cleanliness and organization of ceramic work areas
Follow and support studio safety protocols
Safely lift and move supplies, equipment, and materials (up to 80lbs)
Stand for extended periods during shifts
Customer Service & Sales
Process retail and class sales using the Point-of-Sale system
Answer guest questions in person and by phone in a friendly, professional manner
Gather content for social media and the website
Assist with advertising studio offerings, classes, and events
Ideal Candidate
Keen interest in ceramics and pottery with a strong willingness to learn
Comfortable working hands-on with materials and tools
Enjoys interacting with guests of all ages and experience levels
Reliable, detail-oriented, and safety-conscious
Able to work independently and follow procedures
Previous ceramics or studio experience is an asset but
not required
Training & Growth
Comprehensive on-the-job training provided for ceramics, kilns, and equipment

Schedule & Availability
20 hours per week year-round (more hours available based on studio hours)
Shifts range from 4-8 hours
Availability required on weekdays, weekends, and occasional evenings
