The Christina Lake Site Operations Engineering team has an excellent opportunity for an Operations Engineering Co-Op Student to support the current site-based team. This role will provide valuable learning and development opportunities through familiarization of the SAGD process; skills required for working as an engineer in an operating facility; understanding and use of P&IDs; the importance of process and personal safety; understanding of the value of process optimization, production, and cost reduction. The successful candidate will be eager to learn, willing to engage with multiple partners daily, and able to work well in a fast-paced team environment that requires taking the initiative and balancing multiple priorities.

Responsibilities

Assist with daily/weekly/monthly production reporting activities

Scope and prepare justifications for small optimization projects

Develop process simulations to help take on and optimize operational issues

Develop tools to simplify/clarify/communicate on-site engineering activities

Qualifications

Legally entitled to work in Canada for the duration of your work term and able to produce documentation (e.g., work visa)

Available to begin work in May 2024 for a 12-month term

Education

Currently enrolled in a Chemical/Petroleum/Mechanical Engineering Undergraduate Program at an accredited post-secondary institution and returning to full-time studies after the work term.

Currently enrolled in either a Master\'s or Ph.D. program at an accredited post-secondary institution may also be considered.

Skills / Competencies

Process simulation experience (HYSIS, UNISIM, other) is considered an asset.

SAGD familiarity or experience is considered an asset

Good communication skills, highly collaborative, and able to work with team members in different disciplines (Maintenance, Operations, Environment)

Working Conditions

This may include frequency of travel, sitting, standing, computer work, lifting, driving, working at the site, etc.

Safety Sensitive

This is a safety-sensitive role, and you will also be required to wear all Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) during required work hours. Furthermore, you will also be required to pass the pre-employment medical and drug/alcohol assessment requirements.

Safety-sensitive positions require the operation of a motor vehicle; applicants are asked to provide a recent (i.e., issued within the previous 4 weeks) original driver\xe2\x80\x99s abstract for the preceding 5-year period if offered the position. A valid Canadian Class 5 Driver\'s License with no restrictions (i.e., non-GDL) is a requirement for this role.
