Hiring Unit:Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E)
Campus Life & Engagement (CL&E) supports all McGill students by connecting them to resources and creating meaningful opportunities for involvement. They guide students in navigating the McGill student experience through orientation and transition programming and by providing student life opportunities across campus for students to develop their interests and skills.
Position Summary:
Under the shared supervision of the Assistant Director, New Student Experience, the Student Life Program Assistant will assist with various student-life related projects including coordinating CL&E's webinars, orientation events, volunteers, supporting Students Helping Students programs, student engagement activities, and other projects. The Program Assistant will actively work on initiatives aiming to address student needs and promote student engagement, especially amongst underrepresented student populations
Major Duties and Responsibilities:
Duties include, but are not limited to, the following:Co-develop and co-facilitate new student webinars and engagement activities/programming
Assist with CL&E's online webinar series with campus partners
Help with the coordination of CL&E's volunteers recruited for different events (orientation, etc.), including maintaining database, recruitment, follow-up for Co-curricular Record documentation, and communications.
Assist with the coordination of the "Students Helping Students" campaign with campus partners
Assist with support programs to address student needs, including for underrepresented students including first-generation students.
Collaborate with CL&E's Communications team on social media engagement projects, and with assisting with management of the Incoming Class Facebook groups
Assist in student life programs & student programming based on the life cycle of student needs
Provide logistical and administrative support for training, workshops, and events coordinated by CL&E
Update and maintain the Students Helping Students database
Research best practices regarding student life & engagement programming
Liaise with students and university organizations for information exchange and collaboration; diplomatic communications and relationship-building
Outreach activities, including tabling
Perform other duties and tasks, as required.

Excellent knowledge of campus services, resources, and programs

Excellent knowledge of Microsoft Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint)
Knowledge of French and English: McGill University is an English-language university where day-to-day duties may require English communication both verbally and in writing. The level of English required for this position has been assessed at a level 4 - Fluent (spoken) and 3 - Advanced (written) on a scale of 0-4.
