Job Description


DUTIES: The Student Development Officer\xe2\x80\x99s (SDO) main responsibilities include providing career coaching and support to at-risk youth participants. The SDO will also identify and recruit professionals and employers to meet with the youth participants, be guest speakers, and offer guided workplace tours. This individual will work closely with the Reboot Plus Program Instructor (Success Facilitator) in the planning and delivery of the program curriculum and identify opportunities to promote the program to professionals and employer groups; and will develop and deliver presentations tailored to these audiences. Additional duties will include: developing recruitment and promotional materials and feedback tools; working closely with participants to identify appropriate potential professionals for meetings or informational interviews aligned with their career interests; leveraging existing professional networks to contact professionals and employers to introduce the project, request participation, provide project information and prepare participants for meetings; following up to obtain feedback on their employer/professional\xe2\x80\x99s experience and participants\xe2\x80\x99 performance; working with project partners and local Boards of Trade and Chambers of Commerce to engage professionals and employers in project participation and supporting the youth participants; maintaining records and preparing reports on employer/professional contacts, presentations, and follow-up meetings and participant meeting; and contributing to quarterly and final reports as required for the program. Other related duties will be required. SCREENING CRITERIA 1. Completion of a Diploma in Business Administration or related field (equivalencies will be considered) 2. Recent and relevant experience in career development ASSESSMENT CRITERIA 1. Knowledge of career development activities 2. Knowledge of computer software applications (MS Office suite - Excel, Word, PPT) 3. Ability to communicate effectively 4. Networking skills 5. Ability to manage priorities utilizing organizational and time management skills 6. Problem-solving skills with an ability to consider and respond appropriately to the needs of students 7. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with internal and external stakeholders 8. Demonstrates a commitment to student success strategies and initiatives SALARY INFORMATION: CG-33 - $53,799.20 to $59,841.60 per annum College of the North Atlantic is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
