The opportunity: The Lead Student Recruitment Officer (LSRO) will act as the lead senior recruitment specialist within the student recruitment team, responsible for recruiting students from Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, the US, and globally. In addition, during the Associate Registrar & Director\xe2\x80\x99s absence, they will assume temporary supervisory responsibilities for the entire recruitment team. The LSRO will act as the primary liaison with Admissions via the Lead of Operations, and act as the liaison with the Indigenous Student Recruitment Officers via the Lead Indigenous Student Recruitment Officer. This position will work closely and collaboratively with all members of the Student Recruitment team, Registrar\xe2\x80\x99s Office and Enrolment Services (ORES), and key faculty representatives. The LSRO will also serve as a resource person for schools, government and social agencies, parents, school counsellors, recruitment partners (agents) and members of the public. The qualifications and experience we\xe2\x80\x99re looking for:

  • Bachelor\'s Degree, preferably in Communications, Marketing or related field required.
  • University of Manitoba graduate preferred.
  • Three years of directly related administrative experience required, preferably at the University of Manitoba.
  • Supervisory experience is required, including leading and supporting a team of employees, coaching, developing, goal development, and performance management.
  • Advising/guidance experience required.
  • Demonstrates a commitment to student success and to the strategic goal of the unit required.
  • Public relations, communications and/or marketing experience, and significant public speaking experience required.
  • Experience working with print and web marketing materials, content and layout required.
  • Understands the range of duties of a professional recruitment officer with a clear track record of outstanding work as recruitment professional.
  • Experience working with students or teenagers or in the post-secondary or public school system required.
  • Extensive experience in a customer focused environment required.
  • Experience in the development, planning and execution of complex projects and an innovative and flexible approach to problem-solving.
  • Experience working with budgets required.
  • Experience as a University of Manitoba student preferred.
  • In-depth knowledge of university admission process and regulations preferred.
  • Extensive and detailed knowledge of the provincial (Manitoba) high school system, and knowledge of national and international high school curriculums preferred.
  • International work experience preferred; working with international education agents preferred.
  • An acceptable equivalent combination of education and experience may be considered.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills required.
  • Excellent interpersonal, problem solving, reasoning and decision-making skills required.
  • Must be tactful and diplomatic, and able to deal with individuals in stressful or emotional situations.
  • Excellent computer and web development skills with above average abilities in excel, word, and PowerPoint required.
  • Must be creative and innovative.
  • Demonstrated leadership abilities required.
  • Must have the ability to motivate staff in a positive manner and set direction for the team.
  • Must have knowledge of University of Manitoba degree programs and entrance requirements.
  • Superior time management skills and the ability to prioritize, delegate and monitor activities required.
  • Exceptional attention to detail required.
  • Must be very reliable and self-motivated.
  • Must be able to work well both independently and collaboratively as a team member.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others in a team environment required.
  • Ability to take direction and criticism in a professional manner and to show growth and positive change as a result required.
  • Able to learn quickly and retain and apply new knowledge.
  • Ability to interact with all members of the university community, prospective students, parents, counsellors, and agents effectively and with diplomacy.
  • Must demonstrate lnter-cultural competence, the ability to function effectively across cultures, to think and act appropriately, and to communicate and work with people from different cultural backgrounds - at home or abroad.
  • Ability to organize and chair meetings required
  • Must have physical stamina and able to drive, sit or stand for lengthy periods.
  • Must be able to lift heavy boxes (up to 20 kg each) and display units.
  • Valid driver\'s license, access to a vehicle, and clean driving record required.
  • An additional language would be considered an asset.
  • Satisfactory work record, including satisfactory attendance and punctuality, is required.
  • Previous experience in student recruitment positions preferred.
