Responsibilities

Assists the Social Media & Digital Content Team with content creation. This includes but not limited to writing stories, and creating, editing and shooting production-quality videos and photos. Assists the Manager with the delivery of communications programs. Assists with compiling social media analytics. Attends events to cover them on social media including the ad hoc weekend events. This position will play a key role in producing creator-style content to inspire bike use and promote exploring the region by bike, focusing on the Major Bikeway Network and the region's Urban Centre Bikeway Networks. This position will also lead on creating a social media toolkit to assist local governments around the region in promoting newly completed portions of the Major Bikeway Network and Urban Centre Bikeway Networks.
As Metro Vancouver's regional transportation authority, TransLink plays a key role in delivering projects and programs to encourage cycling and advance a culture that fosters sustainable travel regionwide. TransLink's remit includes planning and funding the Major Bikeway Network (MBN) and networks of bikeways within each of Metro Vancouver's 26 Urban Centres (UC's). This role facilitates outreach and engagement via social media and digital content on these projects.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Assists the Social Media & Digital Content Team in content creation by writing stories, as well as creating, editing and shooting videos and photos for publication by:
a) Researching compelling visual content to accompany important messaging about cycling and newly constructed bikeways in Metro Vancouver.
b) Composing and editing video and photos to tell a compelling story which will encourage engagement with customers. Assists the Manager with the delivery of communications programs by:
a) Assisting with contributing and managing social content to meet the goals of the program.
b) Assisting in communications plan writing.
c) Liaising with TransLink's Streets Planning team and other internal and external contacts to coordinate campaigns.
d) Updating the Communications team on social media efforts. Assists with compiling social media analytics by:
a) Using different social media listening software to produce daily reports.
b) Speaking to the reports in daily team meetings. Attends events to cover them on social media including ad hoc weekend events.
Performs related duties as assigned, such being items of minor nature that do not affect the value of the job.
Creates a local government social media toolkit containing key messages, content and other materials for promoting newly completed portions of the Major Bikeway Network.
Qualifications
------------------
EDUCATION:
Requires completion of a minimum of two (2) years post-secondary education in an undergraduate or graduate degree program in a discipline related to communications, marketing, journalism, geography, urban studies or other related discipline. Must still be enrolled as a student.
EXPERIENCE:
Requires up to 3 months previous experience in a content creation role, preferably in a large, public sector organization, and a further period of up 1 month on the job to become familiar with TransLink's transportation policies, social and digital content campaigns.

Recruitment Process: An applicant will be required to demonstrate their suitability for this position by meeting the minimum level of qualifications and experience in order to be invited into the selection process. A standard interview format will be used including general, scenario and behavioural descriptive interview questions.

This is a full-time temporary position for four (4) months.

Rate of Pay
---------------
Salary $4,882 - $5,869 per month (Actual salary offered will be commensurate with education, experience and internal parity).
