Job Duties
We are looking for a Student Assistant to support on a project for the Office of Applied Research and Innovation! Our project, •Determining the feasibility of a collaborative, sustainability-driven, project to produce a low-cost, self-contained, hydroponics unit•, will explore if Saskatchewan Polytechnic has the capacity to fabricate a hydroponic unit, and how the institution might support the development of indoor growing technology.
QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS, ABILITIES AND EXPERIENCE
Specific Accountabilities
Duties
• Support the Research Associate and project team leading the project, as directed
• Assist with coordination of an advisory committee
• Support Research Associate with information gathering from internal and external stakeholders
• Assist with engagement of external Indigenous stakeholders
• Assist with planning and coordination of an "Indoor Growing" symposium
• Troubleshoot problems interfering with the project's success
Required Qualifications, Skills and Abilities (QSA)
• Currently enrolled in a college or university program relevant to indoor growing technology or food security
• Demonstrate valuing diversity and effective communication skills
• Demonstrate an aptitude for stakeholder engagement and gathering information through direct communication and email
• Experience working independently with limited supervision
• An effective communicator, able to seek guidance and clarify responsibilities when necessary
• Demonstrate competence and recent experience in the use of the internet, e-mail, Microsoft Office, Excel, and Teams, and Zoom.
• Ability to function as a team member in an ever-changing environment
